Not a sub snob, sometimes I watch anime in both because they are both different experiences... although I have to disagree on the Kuroshitsuji dub. The accents are horrible. At least Daisuke Ono had demon-like charm in his voice whereas the dubbed Sebastian just sounds like an average butler with a trying-way-too-hard accent.

I'll usually watch something the first time in Japanese and then again in English, so the English track does have the misfortune of being compared against the "real" experience, but I do sincerely enjoy many dubs and will often try new series just to follow my favourite English voice actors around (hello Troy Baker!).

I agree with you 100% about Kuroshitsuji. The accents are so awkwardly bad in the English dub that I was getting such a deep feeling of second-hand embarrassment for those poor voice actors that it made watching the dub a physically painful experience (and I'm not someone who succumbs to second-hand embarrassment easily). I came back to it about a month later and tried again and just ahh, it's unbearable. I'm so sorry that work is out in the world, actors, because now anyone can hear it :(

I AGREE SO MUCH.

Argh. I'm British, and I hate to be a Brit-picker, but the dub was AWFUL.

Sebastian's voice in Japanese is much nicer to listen to. Daisuke Ono's performance is really good as far as some Japanese voice acting goes.

In English... just sounds like some dude doing an impersonation of a 19th century British schoolmaster. -_-
