Too much OP. I'm afraid you expected too much.

This game's breeding side plot creeps me out.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-13 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
...What game is this?

I ask, because 'breeding side plot' makes me think of Record of Agarest War, and this clearly not from that series.

Eh, why? I think it's really fun! Some of the support conversations are great.

Unless you mean Nowi/Nah, in which case I agree.

To be fair, only Chrom HAS to marry someone. You can leave everyone else at A supports.

But in any case we'll always (ambiguously) have Ike.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-13 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing ambiguous about Ike in FE terms. Ending pretty much equals canon for every other lord, so why should he be different?

Well at least you can get married to your best friend's daughter from the future and your cousin!

(Anonymous) 2013-02-13 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I'm almost surprised that you can't have incest relations in this game.

First playing this game I thought Chrom and "Marth" were gonna bang

..NOPE

Some of the same-sex supports read as...really shippy, so you can always leave it there. (Libra/Virion, Lissa/Maribelle, Chrom/Male Avatar for starters.) Although I guess you can't for Chrom.

Although, yeah, I would've liked it if there were S-Supports between same-sex characters. It's a carryover from FE4 where the system came form though, and the point of the system is kids, anyway. Also in Fire Emblem you apparently inherit your abilities and class options from your biological parents.

Of course, if they did it by teaching, that'd be even more fun--since I just passed Lucina Lethality from female Avatar, I have this wonderful image of mother-daughter throat-slitting practice...sure make those parent/child supports a lot more interesting.

I totally agree! Frederick/Chrom early supports are actually very shippy and Tharja is in love with female and male MU.

I do think they should of had same-sex supports as well. They had gay characters in previous FE games, so seeing that there were none included in Awakening was a let down. Hopefully in the next game canon gay characters will be reintroduced.

Learning by teaching would be great! I like seeing the supports between parents and kids, but actually having a cut scene where that happened would have been icing on the cake.

Yea it's a shame but not really surprising. I haven't really gotten a lot of people married so far, only Lon'qu (Ugh I couldn't resist) with my avatar.

I'm enjoying the heck out of this game so far but I do agree with you, OP. Perhaps I have just been spoiled since the more recent games I've played with romance options have all been BioWare, with plenty same-sex options to choose from.

Your s!b says it all.

But as it's been pointed out, you can always let your imagination go wild in the m/m and f/f supports.

I do like the marriage system though, because the overpowered kids = AWESOME.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-13 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'm for this, because it's so easy to accidentally marry someone in this game. I want to hear homophobic little shits whining online about how they didn't want to marry Crom to Vaike. (Their tears would be delicious.)

(Anonymous) 2013-02-13 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
It's...not easy at all, considering that you have to purposely activate the support conversations. Unless you went into the game blind and didn't know that S support = marriage, I suppose.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-13 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I remember the taste of those tears from my Dragon Age: Origins days.

"OMG, I always kill Zevran as revenge for tricking me into having sex with him! All I did was invite an openly bisexual guy who had been telling me how dangerous and handsome he thought I was into my tent so he could give me a massage! There was NO WAY I could understand that I was actually saying yes to sex! FAAAAAAAG!!!!!!"

Mm mm mmmm, yummy!

(Anonymous) 2013-02-13 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Well OP, I can kind of see why they didn't. First of all, the only purpose of marriage (for the first generation) is to make children. It's not in there just for kicks, except for the second gen, in which case there COULD be gay relationships but considering how many different pairings the writers already had to write supports for, I don't blame them for not including it.

And yeah, it's a JRPG. Homosexual relationships are usually completely absent or, at the best, somewhat implied.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-13 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
No, considering FE's last non-remake main character had a choice of two other dudes to go off with, and the fact that the series has a history of canon bisexual threesomes since the second entry? You've got every right to be disappointed. (And most of the fandom is with you.)

(Anonymous) 2013-02-13 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
The only JRPG I played where you could have a same sex "romance" was Dragon's Dogma - and the romance part was really random and ... almost non-existant and you could stumble into it without actually knowing it.

Yes, because gay marriage should be arbitrarily inserted into every single game, book, movie, and TV show just for the sake of having it there, whether or not it's relevant to the storyline, so that you can squee over DA HOT GAYNESS!!!!1
