Uhm... If you watched every single episode, then the "Haruhi is God" comments shouldn't really surprise you. Also, how is she a mary sue when the other characters in the series clearly never glorified her for her faults? 0_o

I didn't say that the Haruhi is God comments surprised me. I said they annoy the shit out of me. So she has some ability to affect reality? Does that mean she should be worshiped and idolized? Not with a shitty personality like hers.

How is she like a Mary Sue? Does whatever the hell she wants without consequence. Presses others into her little games. Uses people like pawns. Basically she's a kid on one big power trip and everyone around her is her toy. How is that not an ideal Mary Sue situation? There are different definitions to Mary Sue after all. Glorifying of faults is not required. Put her up to a litmus test and see what happens.

...Mary Sues are presented as perfect in every way. Haruhi isn't. Her omnipotence also serves as a plot point. Her faults as clearly presented as faults (e.g. in the second novel, when Haruhi refers to the club members as her playthings, Kyon nearly blows a gasket). So no, I'm not seeing where you're going with this.

I think you need to look up the definition of Mary Sue, it's not so cut and dry. Mary Sues are not perfect. Mary Sues are more of an embodiment of someone's desires. Most people who write them wish for their characters to be perfect and liked by everyone, but that's not a requirement. A Mary Sue is more wish fulfillment than flat out perfection.

What is Haruhi if not wish fulfillment? She does what she wants when she wants without much consequence to herself and she has the ability to affect reality. She's not perfect per se, but she sure as hell gets away with a lot. She does what she wants and has cool powers. Who doesn't want that? That's all I need to classify her as a Sue.

She's got cool powers just like half of the characters in most anime and manga, are they all sues too? Her faults are clearly seen and treated as faults, that alone makes her not a Mary sue.

I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall here. Ok, last time.

She's not a Mary Sue just because she has powers. She Mary Sueish because
A) There are no negative consequences directly affecting her in any way for her horrible personality/attitude/abuse of others. At this point I'm convinced that she can slit someone's throat and no one will care because they think Haruhi is awesome -_-
B) she has god-like reality affecting powers that essentially give her the ability to reshape the world as she sees fit.

It's more A than B though, because more people choose to worship her despite her less than worthy behavior. Also, having faults does not exempt you from Mary Suedom, sorry mouse.

Now you're clearly making this up. I can understand if you didn't find her development believable; I thought it was rushed too, but I thought it was already made obvious from the last few episodes that she's not the same self-centered person she used to be in the first half of the series.

she has god-like reality affecting powers that essentially give her the ability to reshape the world as she sees fit.

...I don't think you really understand what a plot-advancement is. Ha, well. *washes my hands off this*
