Creative types, how do you celebrate accomplishing things?/CELEBRATORY GIF THREAD?

[personal profile] thinkatory 2013-02-16 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)

I snorted at your icon.

And yay! Congrats on finishing your fic!

Thank you on both counts! I made it back in 2004 and don't have the heart to retire it, plus, I still love Josephine and Napoleon's love letters so whatever haters to the left. (I used to have mock-ship wars with my friends in AP European History. Yeah, I've always been this nerdy, why do you ask)

I actually tried recreating this kind of icon in MSPaint like I did back in 2004 and found it impossible, too, what the hell

Well, to start, there was the obvious Marie-Louise vs Josephine conflict, which we (as Harry Potter fandomers in the early '00s) played out with a sarcastic parallel to Harry/Ginny and Harry/Hermione, so I got to play a butthurt Harmonian casting aspersions on Marie-Louise's BACKGROUND and HISTORY WITH MEN.

Then we had a brief shipwar with regards to Leon Trotsky and his long history, in WHAT WAS TROTSKY'S OTP? WHO WAS HE DESTINED TO BE WITH? My friend insisted that Frida Kahlo was it for him, where I was convinced his bromance (or more?) with Lenin won out.

We also wrote slash fic about James I.

Eeee! I LOVE IT.

Trotsky/Kahlo, I can ship it. But you're right, her own epic love makes a Lenin-Trosty bromance win out. They probably used to get hammered (har, har) together and braid each other's frankly impressive facial hairs.

James I, I see it. He probably had a huge unrequited crush on Shakespeare (who wouldn't?).

Ha, and Josephine finally had the upper hand, since her daughter Hortense, whom she had with Beauharnais, is the mother of Napoleon III.

Historical shipping, so much material, so little time. Even the whole Medicis/Bourbon family affair on its own would take ages!

I usually have enough plot bunnies that I go "oh yeah, finished that fic! I will reward myself by STARTING THIS OTHER FIC! :DDDD"

That, or play The Sims.

Congrats on your finished fic!

Oh god, that is seriously what I am considering doing. D: I also have a bunch of WiPs sitting around, but then I'd have to work on my plot and aaah /)(\ It's way easier to just write a new story altogether

I could totally go for walling a Sim up and watching it panic and suffocate right now.

wait, that sounded seriously sociopathic.

Thank you! Also, TEMPTING. It would just be really fun to not be writing something plot-intensive and serious for once, so I'm probably going to write a few puff pieces (which will probably also contain murder, but you know what I mean)

I write crackfic all the time. No shame, the angst does get to be too much and sometimes you just gotta have fun, you know?

I just smile, quietly, by myself, staring at the text wall/picture/whatever it is that I just made, kinda dumbfounded that it exists and it's pretty and it's done.

*fingers crossed that I get to experience that with my WIP long fic*

I definitely did this for the last 18 hours or so. Cooing over it like a newborn. ♥

Oh man, good luck with your longfic. You can do it! There's a light over at the Frankenstein place!

I dance wildly around my room to the song from Flashdance. I actually made a secret about that once. It's quite joy-boosting.

I never do, you're right, I should celebrate more. Especially since it's so rare for me to ever finish anything I start (or even start on the ideas I have)

Thank you for helping me have this epiphany omg

My pleasure, since I basically realized my response to "oh, well, that fic is done" was "what do I do next, SHIT HELL FUCK," which was not very joyful. SO, I AM GOING TO DANCE AROUND FOR A WHILE.

Sometimes I pump my fist in the air. If it's something that was also very exhausting, sometimes I have a drink. Like when I finished my undergrad thesis.

Here's some celebratory gifs:

I celebrate by eating cake or anything yummy, then taking a nap. Because it's very likely that I would forego sleep to get shit done so ha ha!
