People like that have been universally called bleeding hearts for hundreds of years. SJW is a shiny new internet term that hasn't spread much beyond a few large online circles. Whatever you call them, they tend to be the object of scorn or ridicule by everyone else.

Thank you for pointing out that 'bleeding heart' isn't exactly a new derogatory term for the socially liberal.

My take on the whole recurrent SJW debate: can't everyone just get the fuck over it already? I mean, there are people in the world who advocate for social justice. Depending on your political opinions, you either think this is a good idea or you do not (I generally do, as I identify as socially liberal/left wing, but that's besides the point). Now, some of these people use the internet - shock, horror! And some of that sample size are idiots - again, shock, horror! And of those idiots, some of them are ludicrously extreme to the point of damaging the image of the cause they're purporting to support.

But that's a minority. Kind of like how the Westbaro Baptist Church doesn't represent all Christians, or even all fundamentalist Christians.

Ugh. *drinks more red wine, hopes this comment is late enough that it doesn't cause wank*

Nope, I agree. I'm a social justice advocate and frankly the whole SJW and Anti-SJW debate annoys me to no end. Both sides are acting like brats.

bleeding heart is definitely different than sjw.
