i have recently heard tell of this amazing communication medium called the 'postal service'. it apparently involves first taking mulched and compressed fibrous tree matter and pressing upon it with a dark viscose liquid contained in a narrow cylinder and dispensed via a 'ball-point' mechanism. the secret is to arrange the marks you make in this way in particular shapes and patterns that supposedly resemble typed font and is thus 'translatable' by a viewer. after completing this step, place the compressed tree matter in another piece of compressed tree matter, this one folded to make a 'pocket' of sorts, which you then seal with a sticky resin. at this point my recall of the entire process gets hazy, but I think it involves the marking of the specific coordinates of your recipient on the front of the 'pocket', a giant governmental bureaucracy, and sticky square pictures of the queen.

pros: no accidentally sending an inappropriate message to your entire address book

cons: you may have to talk to another human being at some point using this system

Apple is the only other dependable email service I've been able to find but it isn't available to everyone :( Basically all that exists now is Gmail, Yahoo, and then an infinite amount of small/exclusive providers that may still be around in a year but probably not. Yahoo is the lesser of the evils between Gmail and Yahoo but you're probably better off getting an email account through your ISP.
