Me too. I never realised that was seen as ironically liked/so bad it's good though. I thought it was just a mix of good comedy and super catchiness.

i once repeated that song to a friend enough times that he later came to me all pissed off because he was trying to whack it in the shower and that song popped up in his head

I rock out to this song ALL THE TIME. High energy, catchy... it's one of those songs that's perfect to start an eight-hour road trip with.

I've never understood liking things 'ironically'. Just admit you like it even if it's 'bad' and move on.

I love it too, OP.

In fact, I love it so much, that I snuck it into our school dance. We have this dance every year where the second year students dance because they are becoming the oldest students in the school. Most of the dances are like waltzes and other dances from across the courts of Europe. But the final dance is our own. We get to decide the music, so I suggested "They're taking the Hobbits to Isengard" and it got accepted.
And I get to "play" Legolas in the dance. I would be lying if I said that it wasn't some dream come true.

Can't wait to see the parents' face when they come to see us dance.

When I found the YouTube copy not long after first watching The Hobbit I posted a comment to the effect of 'Sixty years (*) earlier: "They're taking the hobbit to Erebor!" '

* Yeah, I got the measure of time wrong there, it's more like eighty years prior. sixty-ish if you're only measuring to Bilbo's birthday party (going by the book, where it's another 17 years before Frodo and the other hobbits set out for Rivendell).
