I have the same problem. Dylan is hot and for me personally the best looking actor in this cast. I really hope they will define him as sexual attractive in S3 so that this fic trope will die.

I've never seen fics where's he portrayed as physically ugly. I tend to see the "not conventionally attractive but still beautiful" trope a lot though. But never where he's outright ugly.

I've only seen the first season, so I know nothing about any new characters, but to me? Stiles is the best looking. So I don't understand why anyone would think he's not AT LEAST adorable.

I've not seen many (if any) fics that portray Stiles as ugly. SCOTT on the other hand...:\

TW fandom, especially fic writers, like to take any chance they can to make digs on Scott. always mad their white bread fav is only the sidekick and derek fawns over Scott more.

I can not understand the "ugly Scott" idea. Yeah, his jaw is not symmetrical, but the rest of his face is pure cuteness and his body is gorgeous.

That cast is pure eye candy. Even the older generation. Allison's dad would be considered major slashbait in any other show.

I'm tired of the Stiles-isn't-good-looking-he's-shocked-insert hot character here-is-with-him. But, it's Teen Wolf. That's probably one of the least random fandom tropes.

I get that he's supposed to be playing a teenager, but he looks a little too youthful for me to be anything but squicked at the thought of him + sex. Not saying that equates to universally ugly, but fic tends to reflect author bias and all that. If I find him sexually repulsive for my reason, I'm sure there are others out there that find him just hideous. :/

If he is ugly then I am a dinosaur. I call Apatosaurus. They're my favorite. I blame The Land Before Time.

Anyhoo, this is a kind of common-ish thing fandom does. Characters in the show/game/movie/book/whatever will joke about something and then the fic writers will be like, "OMG THE IDEA HAS BEEN STATED! THE ONLY INTERPRETATION OF THIS LINE IS AS COMPLETELY LEGITIMATE EVEN THOUGH CONTEXT WOULD POINT TO OTHERWISE."

Not all fic writers, obviously, but it happens enough to be irritating. Take a look at Jade from Tales of the Abyss. The man is 35. He jokes about his "old age" and uses it as an excuse sometimes to get out of doing work because he's lazy. This is all done for comedy. In fact, he's a colonel, has been in war, and it could be argued he's one of the most physically fit people on the team. But a lot of fic writers somehow interpret this into being that he really is a feeble old man. I am not even joking.

Fact of the matter is, unless the show beats people over the head with the idea Stiles's actor is attractive and stops with the jokes, there are going to be people who assume Stiles is ugly. I'm sorry. At least I don't think such interpretations are so widespread?

I think fic more commonly has him THINKING he's ugly (which isn't illogical, because canonically, he isn't getting any), rather than him actually being ugly. And I think that's fair: he's a teenager, he's got self-esteem issues in terms of looks, he lacks introspection to realize that the reason he isn't getting any is because he's abrasive and weird and that tends to not be super attractive to people, especially in high school.

....but that's not a picture of Stiles. That's a picture of Dylan O'Brien. And yes, Dylan is the actor who plays Stiles, but there is arguably a transformation in his mannerisms, dress, and the way he holds himself when he gets into Stiles mode. I don't find Stiles attractive at all but Dylan, oh, my.

Yeah, he has a bad case of eyeglasses ugliness in canon, only they managed to somehow do it without the eyeglasses. He's a handsome dude, surrounded by other extremely attractive, well built, underdressed dudes and dudettes, which is the only way he gets away with pretending to be homely.

I don't think there is any excuse not to have him shirtless next season. He can remain dateless, but he damn well should strip. I've got my priorities.

You know, I really don't find him all that attractive as Stiles. As Dylan, DEAR GOD YES, but not as Stiles. I can't separate the fact that he's meant to be 16/17, and I'm 24. I will read Sterek smut like crazy, and find it EXTREMELY hot, but I don't find Stiles himself attractive.

I've really never seen him portrayed as "ugly" - just not noticeably attractive. Popularity and magnetism for the opposite sex also plays a role in high school dating - Stiles is really not popular, a little spastic, and (canonically) kinda awkward with girls. I get why he doesn't "get" much with his classmates.

Honestly, most of the Teen Wolf fans I see are in love with Stiles and think he's the best-looking of the cast. You are NOT a special snowflake. I, personally, find literally EVERYONE ELSE more attractive than Stiles - the other guys, the girls, the adults. Sorry. ;P

I DO think he's kind of cute, though, and I've only see the "Stiles isn't as attractive as the rest of the cast" trope if it's in Stiles' point-of-view; in woobie!Stiles fic, it can even be dialed up to the nines, which I agree is annoying. What I see more often than "Stiles is ugly" is "Stiles is so hot and gorgeous and smart and talented BUT HE DOESN'T REALIZE IT, OMG."

...I'm a little bitter. I honestly like Stiles, but everyone I meet either ships Stiles/Derek or Stiles/someone else. I'll just be in my corner, reading and writing anything else I can find.

In the fics I'v read, it's never been any of the other characters thinking Stiles is unattractive; it has always been a case where Stiles has low self esteem about his own appearance. Stiles himself, thinking he's "just not good enough." Honestly, I swoon for pretty much EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER in the show. When it comes to the high-school student characters though, I'm usually all *le-sigh* about it. Because, I'm sure If "Teen Wolf" were real, and I went to school with them, none of them would ever notice me. Plus, canonically, Danny is the one and only character I'd have a shot with (He is the only canonically gay character right? Or, did I miss something?) Wouldn't mind a shot with Danny, it's just... Derek... UNF. ~*Step AWAY from the Fandom related TV fantasizing/swooning!!!*~

Funnily enough, I think when they cast Dylan they did actually think they were getting someone kinda homely and awkward looking. His youtube videos(for those unaware, were the only thing he did before TW) are not really flattering at all.
He just turned into this wtf pants melting hot twink.
