No offence, but if you wouldn't be happy as an comic artist unless you were getting tons of respect and recognition, you probably made the right call. No matter what their medium, most professional authors will never be household names or win awards at all.

I don't think OP meant getting into the business for fame and fortune, just not getting entirely screwed out of a well-earned legacy.

It's not about "tons of respect and recognition." It's about the bare amount owed to a person who has put in the time and effort.

How would you like it if your boss fucked you over at every turn and ignored everything of any worth that you did? How would you like it if, at review time, your boss focused exclusively on your faults and deigned to acknowledge any of your positive attributes? Would you throw up your hands and say "oh well, it's not like I should expect to be a household name or win awards?"

Not that I expect you to either care or to respond, since you've said in the past that you do not respond to comments on your posts, but hopefully you'll at least read this and think about it.
