Yes, PC games exist - but if you want to get into anything with a currently active fandom, it's probably a fairly recent game, and you probably need a fairly good computer to play it. I'd like to think my computer's okay (it's pretty typical for someone not on the cutting edge of technology, anyway), but I still can't really play most things that have come out in the past several years. (And I don't know about Wii emulation, but DS emulators also run almost unplayably slow on my computer.)

Aside from the fact that like 95% of today's PC games are on console anyway, the few remaining exclusives (and there's not very many) do not as a rule require a hefty machine. The indie scene, which makes up the bulk of today's PC-exclusive segment, has been very good to people with low-end hardware. The rest tend to be mostly sim games (and I mean ArmA II or that ridiculously expensive train game noods was freaking out about the other day, not the Sims), RTS games, and obscure stuff out of central Europe.

But all this is academic. The point I was trying to make has been strictly that PC gaming as a platform does exist, it's available, if you have the money and the interest it's there for you to partake in. God forbid I advocate my preferred platform. If you don't have access, that's a completely different discussion and I'm tired of people trying to run a privilege game on me because I don't mention all those poor people who don't have access.

My original comment was about people not having access, and you came in here ranting about PC games like it made a damn bit of difference. You even said it yourself: if people don't have access, they don't have access. Why exactly are you getting so fucking defensive over one damn platform? You apparently agree with me that not having access is a problem, so I don't know why you had to start off your original comment with "I disagree with you." Had you simply talked about the accessibility of PC gaming, I'm sure fewer people would have jumped on you. As it is, you're coming across as overly defensive and a tad elitist about PC games.

- original anon that apparently sparked your PC game stanning

"stanning" lol

All I wanted to do was point out that PC gaming exists for the people who have access, and in the long run is probably a better investment than a console toy. What I got for it was a bunch of horseshit about how some people don't have access and I should feel bad. If I'm getting defensive, I have a right to be. And the whole thing kept getting more and more convoluted.

"I disagree with you" was probably not the best choice of words. I probably should have just said "I want to point a couple of things out."

I am not interested in a stupid fucking fight, so please stop shitting on me because I'm not addressing all those people who don't have access.

Yeah, you worded your points in a way that makes you an ass. The people who've responded to you were not shitting on you, but they were nitpicking much like you did but did so like a complete ass.

No one said to feel bad about someone's access to games and gaming platforms. They just said, understand that it's not available to everyone. Simple really.

It's odd though, most of the comments I've seen you make in the past in regard to games/gaming are a complete 180 to how you're presenting yourself today. Which is a complete ass. Just so you know.

How many times do I have to say this? I understand it's not available to everyone. I just wanted to bring up that there's more options than a 360 or a PS3 or whatever. If you don't have access, I WASN'T TALKING TO YOU. Jesus.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-24 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Then you're an inarticulate dick.

Your comment came off like you thought that because their were PC games there couldn't be anyone anywhere who still didn't have access to the games they wanted.

The point want's why they didn't have access, just that they don't. You didn't have to bring up every fucking way they might have access - it was totally irrelevant to the conversation.
