When it was revealed in Pokémon BW2 that Ghetsis ISN'T N's father, my reaction was WHAT. Even more so when they revealed that he apparently found N in the woods as a boy.

I don't get why they'd make two people have similar characteristics (tall, pale, green haired) if they're not going to be related. That's fucked up.

changed plans vOv

it's like in final fantasy vii, aerith and sephiroth were going to be siblings, so they both have the same weird hair-parting/bangs/fringe doing that gravity defying thing on top of their foreheads, but then they changed their minds and they were going to be lovers, but then they were all like no fuck that and then they weren't related at all, but the design remained

except that in this case they changed their mind from one published game to the next because I don't know

I suppose because some people get unsettled by the idea of evil not begetting evil?

I suspect it was more that people were unsettled by having parental abuse in a Pokemon game. For some reason, fictional abuse by guardians other than the biological parents (uncles, adoptive parents, step-parents, etc) doesn't carry quite the same severity for a lot of people.
