Re: US Anti-piracy measures to launch Monday
I mean the reason you guys have a do not call list is because Chuck Schumer got called by telemarketers one too many times.

Re: US Anti-piracy measures to launch Monday
Plus they're afraid of the internet. Remember the "series of tubes" comment? From an old Congressguy who cannot fully wrap his head around the interbutts.
Re: US Anti-piracy measures to launch Monday
(Anonymous) 2013-02-23 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)I mean there'd have to be a hell of a lot of public outcry about this for it to happen, because the money is all on the side of incredibly regressive policies, and it's not like there's a principled commitment to a free Internet amongst any members of Congress.
I mean, even if there's some congressperson out there who really loves browsing the Web and downloading shit who gets dinged by this, they're still going to value the campaign contributions over their personal welfare - and this isn't telemarketers, who are fairly marginal and not that wealthy, it's all the content creators and copyright holders. The whole entertainment industry.
