You say shit like this like someone who casually wants to play one or two games would know any of this.

Like, I literally JUST want to play FF7 and I can't figure out how because I don't know a shit ton about games, where to find old ones or what emulating is.

And I have so little down time as it is that I'm not going to fucking tie myself in knots trying to figure it out - I'm just going to watch an LP.

News flash:

Some people actually have lives and have better things to do than figure out the intricacies of emulation , not to mention some computers can't handle or run emulators well enough for someone to truly enjoy the game. Plus, physically obtaining FF7 can be really expensive if you don't even have the console to play it on.

Get your head out of your ass.

Or if they'd be just as happy watching a LP of the game, they can do just that and in fact know just as much about the story as someone who played the game! Enough to join any existing fandom in fact! Magical isn't it?

Yes of course they can but that person was replying specifically to someone who wanted to play FF7 but said it was too hard to work out how.

It's not hard, they can play it if they want. If they don't that's fine, but they shouldn't try to blame it on something else when it's obvious the real reason is they're too freaking lazy.

Before it came out on gog, I wanted to play System Shock 2, but I'd never downloaded a game before, and I wasn't sure how to get it running properly. So you know what I did? I spent 5 fucking minutes looking it up, and oh hey, it's actually pretty easy. I certainly didn't give up before I'd even started and then complain it's too inaccessible.
