You get this in the Thor fandom with people spelling things out phonetically instead of looking them up, so mjolnir becomes mayolner and then the next time it's mentioned, it's mullner ...

I don't understand how people realise they're guessing how to spell something and then don't think they ought to look it up. Or do they really not realise they're spelling it differently each time? The mind boggles!
