11) That is the most AWESOME image EVER. Oranges! LAWLS! <333

24) I once checked out a guy at the grocery story I used to work at who looked EXACTLY like freaking ROCK LEE from Naruto. I mean the eyebrows, the tight musculature, the slightly lanky build, the bowl cut, EVERYTHING. (He was even wearing a green shirt!) I wanted to jump over my till and fangirl all over him. But I didn't, cause I try not to terrify total stangers or customers that much.

25) Man, I HATE THAT TOO! The thought process for me goes something like...

I'm mad at you! I would LIKE to just hate you in that not-really-hate way that I hate ALL the total strangers on the internets who disagree with me... but that icon is hilarious and it makes you, therefore, just a little bit cool. Now I have to think about you in a more complex manner than just 'you hate what I love, blah on you'. Now there is PARTIAL LIKING involved! Way to tax my brain other poster. Boo on you. ;_;

27 op

okay I will admit his was the only good character. :)

(Anonymous) 2007-09-06 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
OP of 23 here. I meant that I don't like hearing people say that she's dull because she was the exact opposite of dull to me, since I'd never seen anyone like her (and by extension like me) in something like that before.

they have to be because I didn't submit this secret until the final cutoff. it should srsly be dead last or something. XD

[identity profile] athenaltena.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
I almost went as Haruhi this year, but I couldn't find the pants. Finally, a character I could cosplay that actually dressed like how I do!

(Anonymous) 2007-09-06 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Sure this is not the absolute truth for every case, but I think you're generally right.

[identity profile] athenaltena.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
As a gay woman I'd agree with your theory, especially since many of the gay people in fandom may not be out in real life.

Hey, I was just sayin'. XD

5. I'm sure there have been LARPs for Archie, but it doesn't seem to be one of those things everyone knows of, so it'd be harder to find.

The fandom itself apparently is nuts (not surprisingly, most who read the comics are teenyboppers) - I heard there's Archie/Weatherby fics.

(And um, is Richie new? I don't remember a villian with that name.)

14. To be fair, some Remus/Sirius actually works well with canon.

[identity profile] norrowa.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
But... the way I read the secret, the person wasn't saying that at all. They were saying that the elitist/uppity fans shouldn't get uppity/elitist over Kankurou fans who only became Kankurou fans due to voice acting/fanservice or whatever.

(Anonymous) 2007-09-06 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry if I seemed a bit defensive. You seem actually really sweet and humble when I look at your userinfo :D; ahahuur but my opinion still stands.
case: ([ Flonne; Ummm... ])

[personal profile] case 2007-09-06 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
... that doesn't mean she can't be dull to other people. Maybe other people think you're dull. So what?

[identity profile] iamadoughnut.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
15. It does, sorry.

16. LOL, this secret will get a lot of "don't tell me what to do" replies, but I gotta say, I pretty much agree. I'm glad for fandom, sometimes, because I made friends through it and all. But all of my most memorable experiences and accomplishments have been offline, with only a small number of those being fandom-related (such as seeing a movie, meeting an actor, etc). Fandom is an okay hobby or interest, but more and more people seem over-invested in it than I see to remember. Creepy.

22. Oh please. Crap musicals? Not that the other shit is much better, but come on. It has "a tune" too. Sorry you're too ignorant to pick it out.

23. "...if she were a guy"? But it sounds like she is, sorta kinda?

23. I think Haruhi is actually extremely interesting and refreshing when considering the vast majority of shoujo manga heroines. Don't get me wrong, I love shoujo manga and read a lot of it, but most of the female leads are just a rehash of the same character (perky, ditzy, give-it-my-all) who fall for the same basic guy (serious, aloof or hotheaded, cold to the heroine but slowly warms up). It's an okay set-up but Haruhi is such a wonderful change.

27. I have never seen this, but I do scoff at people who think anime are so funny but that no American shows (animated or live) are. As if that somehow makes them more sophisticated. Some anime and manga I think are funny, but I am proud to have a very American sense of humor and laugh way more at Futurama and the Simpsons and the Office and Scrubs.

[identity profile] speaky-bean.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
18. I started liking Kankuro when I saw his INTESTINES, not his shirtless bod. It was the same episode, I suppose, but I couldn't care less about how he looked with his shirt off. Other characters look better anyway. But who else gets their intestines shown? That was AWESOME.

So much word. Rikkai is the only reason I even keep up with the manga at all.

7. OMG, me, too! I used to go there every fuckin' day and now, I never do. I hate all the disturbing, hardcore shit there. And you know most of those people are just trying to top each other w/ shock value. All of those secrets either seem totally made-up or just way too vague or way too mushy. ...I like it here.

22. WELCOME TO THE FANDOM!! *embraces you* Do you hang out at any Broadway comms or forums? Might help. And THIS (http://community.livejournal.com/broadwaysecrets/) is a place you must start going to. It's such fun.

[identity profile] iamadoughnut.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Did you miss the "people of like mind and proclivities" part? No, fandom is not actually a representative sample of the world population.

And it's more like 3-4% of the population is gay. The 10% is a misunderstanding of some Kinsey data.

[identity profile] chronophobe.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha, thank you? I just replied because it's silly to fight really. I was just trying to express my opinion and you were too, and so rather than get angry like I would I just say thank you or smile or something so it doesn't get retarded.

Yes, generalizing people is wrong. Yes, I did generalize people. But it's part of life, there is always a minority.

[identity profile] playingly.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
16. Thank God I'm not the only one who thinks like that. ;___; I have a life and all my interweb friends usually complain about it. D:

23. I couldn't agree with you more. :D

Re: 22

(Anonymous) 2007-09-06 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry YOU'RE too ignorant to appreciate an art form like musicals and know they aren't crap.

Fucker.

[identity profile] kiraqueen.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
8. TRULY ONE OF THE MOST EPIC FANARTS OF ALL TIME. There are very very few that I like more than that.

28. I think it's because not only does fandom attract people who aren't quite the mainstream, but because fandom as a whole is so incredibly open and accepting of sexuality that people don't need to hide if they do have lesbian or bi tendencies.

[identity profile] wazira-sharira.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
I've been reading some stuff online but I can't for the life of me find a timeframe for when it will actually debut in New York. You wouldn't happen to know, would you?

Re: 22

[identity profile] iamadoughnut.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
LOL ANGY. And ignorant. You don't know there are other musicals? Ones that aren't simplistic and cloying? I mean, I'll give Cats a pass because it's just T.S. Eliot with music. And Evita and Phantom are guilty, guilty pleasures.

There is better work out there. And, oh god, the only thing Jesus Christ Superstar was ever good for was inspiring a Mr. Show parody.

[identity profile] held.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
i get my information from this (http://littlemermaidbroadway.blogspot.com/) website. i guess the opening depends on how it's denver shows go? i don't know, but if it doesn't do well and doesn't make it to broadway i will cry.
