No, actually I get the sentiment. It's just that I don't particularly care for either of them, and Edith has also done bad things; so I don't think she's the white-and-fluffy one. It's a sibling relationship, they're often fucked up, and in the end there's no way to decide who's to blame.

i think she basically did punch her in the face when she wrote that letter to the turkish embassy. i mean, really, what's worse that she can do to mary?

people like you really bother me. i don't think mary is perfect, but neither is edith. they're both pretty horrible to each other, honestly. my sister and i have a somewhat similar relationship, so maybe i can understand it better. anyway, i like both of them overall and i want them to be happy, and happy for each other.

I get the feeling Edith would be more likely to poison her tea. Or go about trying to make the baby love her the best, or something. Punching seems unlikely.

Haven't gotten to season 4 yet, but season 1 Edith is a huge bitch, too. I prefer her to Mary, of course, but Edith really isn't very nice, either.

I like both of them but yes, sometimes Mary could use a punch in the face. Edith isn't quite as tough and sassy as she used to be though, since she's the romantic punching bag.

I stopped watching when sybil died. She was really the only character, beyond the duchess that I liked. I do have to admit that I hate Mary though, so yeah Edith, punch away, please!

Team Edith here too. It's the writers that piss me off. Everyone treats her like crap, then she gets a guy who is as old as Dumbledore, then she is humiliated at the altar. Now she finally has something good that is hers in this writing for the paper and her dad is being an ass and the owner is married but that's the best good ol' Edith can do. Fuck them.

I hope for season 4 she finds some hot young stud to travel the world with while she is writing fabulous travel and opinion pieces. And everyone finds out that Mary's vajaja kills people.

lol I love Edith (and Mary... without Matthew) but let's be real, they both are (were?) pretty mean to each other. And Edith's been becoming more nice so I don't think she'll punch Mary in the face!

Mary is a horrible person. I don't understand why we're "supposed" to like her and dislike Edith. I feel sorry for Edith.

I actually like Mary more and I don't like her much, because she doesn't pretend she's a good person. Edith considers herself victim all the time when she actually caused a lot of the problems.

Hitting Mary wouldn't help Edith. It wouldn't even be cathartic, probably because everybody else would be on Mary's side. Because everyone is always on Mary's side. The whole world of Downton is designed so that everything always comes up Mary.

Edith needs to get the hell out of there and find her own life, because none of the relationships she has at Downton are doing anything healthy or good for her. Her family situation is toxic and she should run far away.
