So...I'm sorry, I must be confused. Please choose one of the following for clarification:
A) two characters who both know they're gay are having their first gay experience, but may have had straight experiences before
B) both characters are gay and virgins
C) both characters have assumed they were straight until this particular gay experience

Because if it's A or B, tough shit, but that's real life sometimes. I could understand C because it's often used to justify canon straightness and ignore the possibility of bisexuality. But otherwise... NEWSFLASH: SOMETIMES PEOPLE ARE VIRGINS.

Yes, and this is most true in fandom circles. Virgins, virgins everywhere.

I didn't get the impression the OP disliked those fics in general, but was tired of seeing nothing else. Which I can sort of agree with. I mean, yes, all people start out as virgins, but most people with sex lives are not virgins and most people in porn have sex lives.

Also, good sex is rarely first-time sex. (Yeah, I know, it's a fantasy, but that often?)

So are people obligated to write things that don't interest them simply because what does interest them is in abundance? I don't think so. I mean, sucks for the OP if they're having trouble finding fic that interests them, but still. Tough shit.

And the way they worded the secret makes it sound like they have a problem with gay people being virgins/inexperienced in fic, which strikes me as a little problematic. I don't really have any sympathy for them if that's their view.

Depending on the fandom, most of what I see is C or a combination of C and A (otherwise, either both characters are some combination of gay/bi and experienced or bi but experienced only with het sex). I think the OP is talking about C and I think it happens for exactly the reasons you stated.

If that's the case, then I totally understand their frustration, but they really should learn to word themselves more clearly :|a

That was how I read it, and was kind of surprised when I came here and saw the discussion about virgins in general. I thought the wording 'first gay experience' as opposed to, say, 'first sexual experience', was pretty clear.

Maybe, but there's a general interpretation, and then there's the OP's intentions. I could've interpreted the way you did, but I also know that that may not have been what the OP intended, especially since a lot of people seem to have taken the "first sexual experience" interpretation. IDK, I'm probably a bit more of a stickler for unambiguous wording than most people :/a That's why I was asking in the first place.
