(Anonymous) 2013-02-27 04:42 am (UTC)(link)It becomes hard to breathe and I feel like someone is trying to take over my body. It literally feels like I am losing myself/my personality/etc. My heart also races.
To be honest I only think I had panic attacks, since the description of a panic attack hit all of my symptoms. So technically I'm self diagnosed, lol. They only ever happened at night for some reason.
Do you breathe through your mouth when you're experiencing one? Taking long, slow breaths through your nose is the best way to handle attacks, as breathing through your mouth makes it worse. (Something to do with oxygen/carbon intake, it's been awhile!)

(Anonymous) 2013-02-27 04:48 am (UTC)(link)I tried breathing evenly through my nose but that seemed to just ramp up my terror because I became convinced I was going to pass out. Every time I feel them coming tonight I take a deep breath through my mouth, hold it for fifteen seconds and then exhale slowly and just focus on that until I feel myself numbing out again.
