You are the abnormal one. Or you are overestimating your own ability to do these things.

They were, and it's very amusing because you can tell they were trying to be all progressive about attraction and now they're backed up into a corner.

Someone on tumblr pointed out something that breaks the whole night/dawn/day/twilight thing.

Celestia and Luna represent the Sun and Moon, day and night.

Cadence represents love....and Twilight represents FRIENDSHIP.

Twilight and Cadence make up a different duo, love and friendship.

Oh yeah! that looks really good and I think I'm going to love it. But at the same time I have kind of ambivalent feelings about it, because I think it's going to be really, really popular esp with, if you will, younger, cooler audiences, and I'm going to have that weird kind of... almost guilt, about liking it, where I feel like it's not OK for me to like it or liking it is somehow insincere

because I am, basically, an idiot about shit like that, is what I'm trying to get across here

but it'll be a good movie, because it's by the Coen Brothers

Thanks for the rec!

And no worries, my family got out of the USSR as refugees. It's been over two and a half decades and a day doesn't go by that my father doesn't curse the soviets.

Pretty much. He is the brain behind most of their cases, but she is the one who channels him, stimulates him and directs his attention. I think she resented him a little at first because being his partner cost her her career, but in the end, they're here for each other, know each other's weak spots and protect each other. They're at their best when they're together.

I'm sure lots of different people would have different answers to that question, but...

Do you like violence? How about nudity and swearing? Do you handle character death well?

If your answer to these questions is "yes", then Spartacus just might be for you!

It's ridiculous, but in the best way possible imo. I actually think it has a brilliant cast and does quite well with drama, but YMMV.

Re: Abandoning shipdoms

[personal profile] sugar_spun 2013-03-01 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, I'd believe they were a troll, but BioWare fandom is VERY VERY possessive of their ships. Since you are the PC, a lot of fans tend to feel like their favorite character is cheating on them. People flipped out when Alistair got with Leliana in an AU DLC, when Fenris and Isabela hooked up if you didn't romance them (although there were some bug issues with that), when Tali and Garrus hooked up, etc.

This is pretty normal, but it's an amusing annoying case that stands out as my favorite example of crazy.

I must be making secrets in my sleep.

As far as I'm concerned that finale was a non-canon acid trip or something.

Legit moments of fully-clothed interaction on Spartacus? Never!

lol, ok, stop.

Attraction is a feeling, not an action. You can control your actions. You cannot always control your feelings.

Seriously, this is all kinds of wrong. And it can lead into problematic territory as well.

I just ship 'em like they're not canon. My head-canon of them is so much better than Rowling ever wrote.

Re: anon

because an opinion with an identity is inextricably colored. i just like the idea of of thoughts and feelings just floating around in space to exist just as they are, without history or implication. i think it would be more interesting and more satisfying for f!s to be as such.

It must be lovely to live in a world free of context or critical thought but... you can't do that.

I mean look at 4chan. It's so nice there what with all the polite anonymity.

Philip K. Dick -- A Scanner Darkly (less sci-fi than gutwrenchingly depressing drug culture drama, but still counts)

I personally found "Do Androids Dream" to be a bit overrated.

And I know you said no series but would a trilogy be okay? Because William Gibson's Neuromancer trilogy (sometimes called the Sprawl trilogy) is an easy read (and indeed, the titular first book works very well by itself.) Gibson is my favourite author and aside from a short story collection (Burning Chrome, which includes the fantastic story "Hinterlands") and an okay-ish steampunk novel he wrote with Bruce Sterling, he pretty much writes nothing but trilogies.

the head Russian diplomat with a Polish accent

I was wondering what that accent was. Although, as far as Soviet things go, I felt the rape was unlikely. Soviets were pretty egalitarian, and it's always a dumb idea to make a policy of pissing off the people you're sending out in deep cover.

I agree. The movies they make could do that. With about 90 minutes to deal with a plot, they could have Jackson and Holt deal with his/their issues while still giving other characters things to do. Heck, in "Ghouls Rule", Jackson ended up at a normie school for a short time and made a couple of normie friends; I'd love to see more stuff like that.

Back when the whole split personality was discovered, Frankie told them to text each other; I'd love to see a little bit of how they might communicate with each other.

BTW, there's a new MH movie on Nick this Sunday, "Scaris: City of Frights". Some o fthe other movies will air Sunday, as well.

Why log out? Just select "More Options" and then From: Anonymous.

Of course, you risk forgetting to do that when you meant to post anon, but them's the breaks.

(Posting non-anon on purpose.)
