One thing in her defense, asari mind melds are not simply sex. They can physically pleasure each other without mind melding. It is a method on which they reproduce.

It'd be like if aliens got really grossed out when they say parents kissing their kids on the cheek, if they'd only seen it done between couples. There's more nuance to what their whole mind-meld thing is.

It's never brought up because Liara is never having "sex" with Shepard. It is highly invasive, but Shepard knows that. It's just something that has to be done.

But that said, yeah. Liara's romance is really pushed on the player, and it's clear someone at BioWare really favored her and her romance. I can sort of see why, as she's there from the beginning, can be romanced by both Shepards, can't die, and will live along time (offering some nice cameo options for later ME games). But there's so much supplementary material concerning her and how we're all supposed to love her, it gets really obnoxious.

Saying it better than I did.

+1.

I love Liara, but I can see why the love-fest might grate on other people's nerves. BioWare does go out of their way to make her seem like an exceptional romance option and Shepard's bff, and it sounds like no matter how you treat her you're kind of stuck with her.

Anon above: Makes sense. I didn't touch on the mind melds/sex part since I didn't romance Liara, but I had the feeling there's you know, different types of mind melds.

Everything else: I agree with, only I couldn't word it as well ;)

+1 to all of this. I like Liara, but I get why other people don't as her romance is kinda pushy.

I think she's a great friend and companion to Shepard tho. The Shadow Broker DL made me even more fond of her and I liked in her ME3 as well.
