Rise of the Guardians

I watched that. A lot of very creative ideas and cool visuals. That little girl had really poorly animated hair. Captain James T. Kirk had a super deep voice for what appeared to be a 16-year-old.

Tell me, on a scale of You're Joking, Right to Oh God Save Us, how much does this fandom super ship Jack Frost and Lok--I mean Pitch?

I know, I'm late to the party.

Mmm, probably "The Ship Everyone Expected and Yet is not that huge". It *is* pretty common, but the fandom was kind of blindsided by Bunnymund/Jack. Also Jack/Toothiana, to a lesser degree, but I don't dwell too much in the fandom.

Yeah, Sophie's hair is... just kinda weird, frankly.

Jack is supposed to be 17 or 18, for the record.

I'm pretty sure it's "Oh God Save Us" levels. ~_~

BTW, the movie was based on a book series, The Guardians of Childhood by William Joyce. I'm only on the first book, but I'm really enjoying it.

I'm going to go with "What Do You Mean This Isn't Everyone's Favorite Food?"

By which I mean, I was expecting the fandom to hardcore ship Jack/Pitch even if I personally didn't, but there's a lot more Jack/Bunny that I've seen (as far as slash ships go). Pitch/Sandy pops up with surprising frequency, though.

Pitch really isn't Loki, though. His backstory isn't shown in the movie, but it's really sad in the books. Pitch had a daughter that he loved very much. His job was guarding all the horrors and nightmares of the world. They ended up tricking him into thinking his beloved daughter had somehow gotten into the prison-and he opened the door. They escaped and consumed him and he forgot about her. I think he's supposed to be a representation of the author and his daughter, who died IRL.

But none of that is actually present in the movie, and I've never read the books. So he's basically 100% Loki in the movie.

Well, I ship Jack/Pitch but fandom seems to like Bunnymund/Jack more soooo. :\a

I think it's almost about even. Ao3 has 168 Jack/Pitch and 123 Bunny/Jack fics

Huh, wow. I'm not really an active part of this fandom but I always saw more Bunny/Jack than Jack/Pitch. I may have to go check it out. XD

Surprisingly, I've been seeing a lot more fans shipping Jack Frost/Hiccup than Jack Frost/LokiPitch, so I'm going for "Huh, never saw that coming".

And ditto on the poorly animated hair on Sophie.

Bunny/Jack FTW

As far as the kink meme goes, I'd put it at a solid "It's the Only Flavor of Chocolate We've Got."

It gets a lot of fills, but in general I haven't seen (or have blocked out of my mind) a lot of "Pitch is super-duper happy and fluffy." People want it because they want something dark, and, unsurprisingly, pairing the main character with the villain is an easy go-to for that.

There's a surprising amount of good characterization and developing a character given what's in canon (rather than just stating that it's like this now, or just writing someone OOC), especially given the nature of a kink meme. Lots and lots of people like to capitalize on the point that Pitch and Jack are similar in that they are lonely and largely ignored by society/the Guardians. And there are quite a few fics, some better than others and several that are quite good, with the base concept being some variation of "Pitch and the Guardians learn that some fear is necessary, how to strike a balance, etc."

Honestly, I have more problems with the way Jack/Bunny is usually written than with Jack/Pitch. He can't kiss like a human, that's not how his face works. And a lot of it boils down to taste. If you're into a certain kind of fic, you're going to see a lot of Pitch/Jack; if you're not, you'll avoid it and therefore you won't.
