Pitch really isn't Loki, though. His backstory isn't shown in the movie, but it's really sad in the books. Pitch had a daughter that he loved very much. His job was guarding all the horrors and nightmares of the world. They ended up tricking him into thinking his beloved daughter had somehow gotten into the prison-and he opened the door. They escaped and consumed him and he forgot about her. I think he's supposed to be a representation of the author and his daughter, who died IRL.

But none of that is actually present in the movie, and I've never read the books. So he's basically 100% Loki in the movie.
