Music snobbery is the most irritating snobbery in the world. "You shouldn't like this and you should like this instead." Thankfully most forms of entertainment don't include this kind of assholery.

Maybe nowhere is safe, but all the same, I prefer communities that don't welcome them. And music covers such a huge spectrum that it's a shame their ideas got such traction. Instead of telling you anything about a person, the blanket assumptions actively prevent people from realizing that they don't know what someone else is getting out of it. Asking is preferable to stereotyping.

Humans have got a long way to go toward reaching across-the-board enlightened.
