If Nickelback is your standard, doesn't every band sound pretty okay?

Except, like, Creed?

I dunno, as silly as their older songs were, they were fun to listen to, and their newer stuff is actually quite good.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't deny that they're better than Nickleback.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I admit I only know, like, one or two Nickelback songs, but they failed to give me the impression of unrelenting awfulness I get from people talking about Nickelback.

Man, IDEC, I still like Linkin Park. If nothing else their songs are catchy and fun to listen to, and I see no shame in that.

I don't even bother pretending I don't like Linkin Park anymore. I know some of their older stuff was a little overblown in its angst but I still love it.

Music snobbery is the most irritating snobbery in the world. "You shouldn't like this and you should like this instead." Thankfully most forms of entertainment don't include this kind of assholery.

Yeah they're really not that bad. They get a bad rap for being angsty, but musically, they're better than most pop shit out there.

It feels very surreal to me that Linkin Park is making a comeback. I was never a fan, but yeah, there are worse bands.

just got a flashback from the time i knew all and every Linkin Park song and it's lyrics. dark times,my darling, dark times.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, if you can't stop her from listening to them, starting to enjoy them is better than resenting them and suffering.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-02 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I put Linkin Park on so i coul;d appreciate your secret and holynostalgia I think I'll clean and listen to it all day.

Sorry if you're my housemate u_u' you're welcome to ask me to turn it down.

[personal profile] atgdng 2013-03-02 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Linkin Park got me through my angsty teen years, and will always have a place in my heart. They were the only ones that understood my problems with the orange that would not peel.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-03 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
I definitely enjoy LP's new stuff, and their old stuff is a little nostalgia trip back to my angsty teen days when I had nothing to actually be angsty about.

TBH I also enjoy Nickelback-- not because I think they're great and amazing, because they aren't, I just like the songs-- which I accept might disqualify my sense of musical taste from everything in the universe ever.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-03 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Meh, I enjoy Nickelback, Linkin Park and worse on my imind player. Thank God no one else knows...

(Anonymous) 2013-03-03 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I love Linkin Park. Er, yeah, that's all I have to say.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-03 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Amv makers have made me quite fond of Linkin Park, Evanescence, and so on. I don't really care that they're overused. I find them a lot more "I can listen to this and focus on your visuals" than the umpteen bazillionth rap or song with egregiously tortured, distorted vocals. Same difference with MCR and HIM. I don't have to prove my age to anyone, and as far as I'm concerned, trying to read personality from musical taste is about as wooly as trying to read the future in tea leaves - assuming some people spent conscious thought making shapes in their cup before presenting it. I mean, really. If whatever you think you know depends on the other person not manipulating their signals, that's an unreliable measure of anything.

Oh the likings of things! OH THE NOES GODS HELP US ALL.

Soon you'll find a love and become married, and his name just might be fucking Chester. I mean god why would you want to marry a guy named Chester? And for all I know, you wouldn't even want to marry a guy, because you don't swing that way. BUT YOU HAVE TO IF YOU LISTEN TO LINKIN PARK BECAUSE THEY ARE ONLY MALES.

No, that's not true. You don't have to get married to anyone. I was being hyperbolic. I'm sorry. I won't hurt you anymore. Because now I know how not to hurt you.

THE POINT IS...oh well. Like what you like. It's not like you can help it. SALAD.

I reading this as "crawlies in my robes" and I feel like I'm about to go into a fit because fuck the mental imagery there. Shit all up in my pants and in my sleeves and shitting all over me. Oh god.

I listen to Hybrid Theory and Meteora when I'm feeling nostalgic for my 13-year-old days.

I still genuinely like their songs Breaking the Habit and Numb.

Their new song Burn it Down is really good, too.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-03 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
I thought the whole thing with Linkin Park wasn't that their music was terrible, but that their lyrics were full of obvious metaphors and typical "emo teen" stuff.

But then, Simple Plan was much worse in that area.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-03 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
I never had an angsty teenage Linkin Park period, but I will admit a few songs got me through some dark adult times (lol). Now, I think A Thousand Suns is a wonderfully mature album for them and I listen to it quite often.

I'm also generally meh on Nickelback, but I love Savin' Me. It's the only one of their songs that's not bland and overplayed that I know of.

I unironically like, even love, Linkin Park. It's taken me ten years to come to terms with this.

I found Linkin Park well after my angsty teen years. Actually, I didn't even have angsty teen years.

Their new stuff is... well, new. They're a band who believes in growing and letting themselves change, so what they sing now is not the same emo crap they sang back then. It's all new emo crap. I personally think it's good emo crap.

Nickelback? Ehh, I only ever listened to a few of their songs. Never got around to buying any of their albums, so I don't consider myself knowledgeable enough to comment.
