You know, I admit I only know, like, one or two Nickelback songs, but they failed to give me the impression of unrelenting awfulness I get from people talking about Nickelback.

The real problem with Nickleback isn't so much that any one song is unrelentingly awful, so much as they all sound like pretty much the exact same mediocre song over and over again.

This. Nickelback is wave after wave of unrelenting mediocrity. To achieve that kind of onslaught of "not that great" takes not only lack of talent, but lack of anything standout that sucks enough to be interesting

For me it's not that they're that bad per se...It's more that for a "rock" band their stuff all sounds remarkably a) similar and b) polished. Like there's no roughness to it.

Perhaps because I've always liked '80s rock, I never got the extreme dislike of Nickleback. They seem far to...meh...to inspire such rage.

I think the problem with Nickleback is that they are unrelentingly meh.
