The movie "Willow" would count, as a very young Warwick Davis plays the lead, and his entire village is made up of little people, but they are technically a different species, the Nelwins. It's a fun fantasy movie, lots of daring action and high fantasy. Plus Val Kilmer as the co-star, if that intrigues you.

I loved that as a kid and I've read the first book sequel as well, actually, but thank you!
