How do you eat your eggs?

[identity profile] with-rainfall.livejournal.com 2013-03-08 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
I love boiled eggs, soft- or hard, just plain or with pepper and salt. I also like sunnyside up on toast, with tomato sauce.

What about you guys?

All ways. I eat my eggs all ways. Seriously. I don't think there's a bad way to cook eggs.

I particularly like fried eggs with toast, plain soft-boiled eggs, or eggs fried with sweet peppers and served on a soft roll with a little salt and pepper.

Boiled eggs: yes. soft and hard but without anything! except maybe salt, but not often.
Scrambled eggs with potatoes.
Fried eggs in any way. But preferably in this dish: Strammer Max (with Leberkäse ("Bavarian")!)

Scrambled if fried. If boiled, then egg salad or deviled with paprika.

All of the above tbh, but I especially love omelettes and frittata. I also like to make egg in a basket and it's so delicious.

Poached!

I like hardboiled eggs, too. I could eat them all day. But poached eggs are my favorite, and if I weren't so damn lazy, I would eat them every single day for breakfast.

My partner makes awesome scrambled eggs, especially with cheese and red peppers, and I'd totally make omelettes if I knew how, but usually we never have milk in the house, so I end up hard-boiling them and eating them straight up with salt.

Someday, I am going to make awesome deviled eggs, though.

When making them myself, I usually scramble them or make an omelette, filled with onions and peppers and cheese, with a lot of salsa. For some reason, I only crave eggs for breakfast when I have a hangover.

If I go out for brunch/breakfast and they don't serve chocolate chip pancakes, I get Eggs Benedict. Hollandaise sauce is the best.

I make low-fat buttered popcorn, let it cool, and then eat that. It tastes just like scrambled eggs.

I know. I'm just as baffled as you.

MIGAS

I don't really like eggs, but I get a craving for them about once a month. I satisfy this craving with migas. The migas I eat are scrambled eggs with corn tortilla strips, serrano peppers, tomatoes and onions.

Or breakfast tacos (scrambled with bell pepper, onion, jalapeño on tortillas).

I also like omlettes and quiche that are mainly vegetable (mushroom and spinach). I'll eat boiled eggs on rare occasions.

I will not touch anything with a runny yolk.

In baked goods. I can't stand the taste or texture of eggs. Even the smell is kind of off-putting to me.

I love poached eggs on toast. Or scrambled eggs with ham and cheese on baked potatoes. Or baked eggs with romesco sauce. Or baked eggs with cream. Or scrambled egg sandwiches. Or hard-boiled eggs with salt and pepper.

I just love eggs.

Hard fried with a hard fried yolk but not too crispy, it's actually harder than cooking them with a runny yolk (which I find disgusting -- I can't even eat hollandaise sauce)

Scrambled very dry with lots of pepper and salt. I don't like slimy eggs. Or eggs with cheese in them. I tolerate hard boiled egg whites but I don't like the yolks-- probably stemming from memories of my grandmother WAY overcooking them when I was a child. I can make the perfect hard boiled egg, but I don't really like eating them. (I always have to make them at Passover.)

Over-easy is my preference, but I only get it in restaurants, because I can't get it right more than once or twice every 5-10 tries.

Boiled are fine either soft or hard. But the weird middle range where some of the yolk is hard, some of it is ALMOST runny...that's vile.

Scrambled, fried (not the yolk), omelette. I avoid making them myself though, because raw egg just completely squicks me (yeah, I know...).

I hate hard-boiled eggs. The smell and the consistency are just something I can't stand (I know fried eggs technically aren't that different, but for some reason I don't mind them).

I have a few ridiculous issues with some food, in case you haven't noticed... XD

Hard boiled, no salt no pepper or nothing.

Scrambled, if they are just so. I'm really picky about my scrambled eggs -- they have to be broken in to a hot skillet and scrambled -- whisking beforehand just makes this yellow blob of egg mess that I don't care for.

Fried, over medium or over hard. I actually prefer over-medium, but it's difficult to get it right with the whites all the way done and the yolk hot and just starting to thicken up but not yet approaching solid.

Rarely. The only time I've ever ate them is when they are mixed into a dish, like Nasi Lemak.

Pretty much every type. Boiled, fried, scrambled, omelettes when I have ingredients to make it an interesting enough.

Also putting sunnyside up on hash. :D

By biting the top so that it cracks a hole in the chocolate, then getting all the goop out with my tongue, giving up on that, and shoving the whole thing in my mouth, whereupon I promptly proceed to make strange noises for a little while while I try not to drool on myself.

...oh, you didn't mean Cadbury Creme Eggs?

Usually scrambled, seasoned with salt, pepper and sometimes oregano and/or smoked paprika - a smallish container of the latter turned up in my cupboard at some point, and it turns scrambled eggs into scrambled-eggs-and-bacon-in-one.

Otherwise fried on both sides or hard-boiled - no runny yolks, and definitely no runny whites!

Or in an omelet, in which case I may or may not throw in anything I've got in the house that seems like it would taste good in an omelet. One of the more surprisingly good recipes I make from time to time is the one where you fry a chopped onion and a chopped pepper (or another vegetable - I find leeks work well), add some instant noodles (softened in boiling water, seasoned, strained well), stir for a bit and then add the whisked eggs and cook the omelet as usual. Om nom nom.
