Well, I think if writers want their female characters to have a baby together, there are still some realistic ways to pull it off without having to venture into complete Suspension of Disbelief areas. It's not quite the same with male characters. Also, there's that weird feminization thing that a lot of yaoi fans are into, so that might also be part of it.

My point was that it doesn't require a man and you Suspension of Disbelief comment--like women NEED a man to get pregnant, and it's OK to suspend disbelief if it's two MEN but HEAVEN FORBID it be two WOMEN.

You... really aren't making a lot of sense. Human women don't reproduce by parthenogenesis, so unless we're writing fic about lizards or plants, it's not a viable impregnation plot device.

Re-reading your comment, you seem to be putting some weird gender-political thing in it, and I'm still baffled by what the hell you're talking about. Fic-wise, you can have your female character realistically get pregnant from invitro or sperm-donor one night stand, turkey baster, etc. so there's less need to go the 'magically conceived' route of Fempreg.
