It sort of makes sense, though. Slash is way more popular on the internet the femslash. Also, if you want to read/write pregnancy fic about a gay male couple, there's no option outside of the realms of fantasy. Lesbians are a bit luckier (they have to pay for a medical procedure, but at least they don't have to move heaven and earth in order to become parents to the same extent as the men). So, if you want to read/write about pregnancy for them, there's no pressing need to leave realism behind.

I was just about to make your first point. I'm pretty sure FPreg would be more popular if femslash was more popular.

And there you have it in a nutshell.

Yup, this. And on top of slash being generally more popular, it wasn't until the past couple of years and the rise of a/b/o as a kink that mpreg was commonly accepted by most fandoms. I've casually liked it for years, but it was pretty univerisally reviled for a while there.

From what I've seen, femslash a/b/o isn't all that popular either? So perhaps the a/b/o ~revolution hasn't taken off in those fandoms, which means there is fewer fpreg stories out there.

Though I did once read an awesome BSSM story where Haruka and Michiru are given the option to have a baby, so they try and discover that Michiru can't bear children. So Haruka does instead. It was really lovely. Unfortunately, it's been at least 12 years since I read it.

That sounds great. Link please?
