A lot of people see lesbians having babies as being full of Unfortunate Implications.

I think that's silly, but, if I tend to keep it to the background of anything that's going to be shared in my writing just to avoid roiling these people up if they run across my stuff.

There's 2 issues I've seen brought up.

'Dammit, women aren't just all about babies' and 'Jesus, now even lesbians need men!' (The latter ignores the possibility that one of the partners isn't cisgendered, or magic, science fiction tech, or other aspects of the story that may allow them to get pregnant without a man being involved.)

But isn't the point of fem-preg that ladies would not need men? They are in fact getting pregnant without the involvement of men.

Yeah, like I said, the argument ignores any situation other than 'turkey baster' and 'ok, do me, I want a baby' - ie, the large field the OP wants, and which I enjoy - which is a big chunk of why I find it silly.

Hmm, well, in the real, non-mpreg world, gay men need women to have babies - even if they adopt, there was a woman involved there at one point - so it all seems to work out on balance. Also, I wouldn't classify "needing sperm" as "needing men."

Ugh yes. One of my fandoms is having a freakout about this right now and I just don't get it. I understand the people who are afraid they're going to magically make the lesbian character straight, but the ones who are upset just at the prospect of her having a baby? I don't understand that at all.
