Why do I have to pick just one? Depending on the show, I would be both excited at new representation and annoyed that my OTP was not chosen, but it wouldn't affect me much--my fandom shenanigans would continue on uninterrupted.

Of course, with most shows, I would actually prefer that my non-OTP be a canon pairing over my OTP. I don't like the risk of writers running a pairing I like into the ground. :)
