Unfortunately, though, Meg bashing has been around in various shades for a while. And her death did not let it up.

I knew I shouldn't have clicked. Gaaah.

Her death is bothering me even more than those of characters I've liked better, because I had such high hopes for a character who'd been central from near the beginning being an important player as the show winds down.

Here's the thing - I have no problem with Sam, Dean, or Cas, or, in theory, the romantic or platonic relationships between any of them.

But on the show itself, any time a situation is paired down to those three (or any two of them), it becomes a repetitive mess of secrets and lies and animosity and resentment and temporary sweetness that you can't trust because they're going to be back at each others' throats by the next episode.

Possible spoiler for Sherlock 3x01 and Holmes in general if you haven't read it yet

Well, personally, I hope they solve the ship war with polyamory, but that's kind of always my response to ship wars.

Personal response aside, what the rabid section will do is deny/character bash, what the saner section will do is consider their shipping AU or have the marriage end in a way that isn't bashing-flavored.

God, I used to be a J2 shipper, but it was more "heh, the fics amuse me." not *tinhatter Danneel is a bitch/beard so Jensen can't love Jared* Yes, I have seen her twitter mentions.

I do not get it. There is a line, and some people just do not respect it.

CrissColfer (Darren Criss and Chris Colfer) shippers are really scary. The amount of hate/death threats they send to Darren's girlfriend is quite frightening. Sorry, about the rant, I just feel like people should keep the hate to themselves.

Especially after meeting Mia, who is god honest, the sweetest human being I have ever met. Why would people want to be mean to her?

Oh god yes the fourth wall must be held up at all times. I'm seriously annoyed whenever people bring up character ships to the actors but the idea of anyone mentioning RPS to them just baffles me.

Tin hatters in general do to. These are real people! You DO NOT KNOW THEM no matter how many interviews you've watched/cons you have been to.

I've been told this a lot. It happens. I'm straight so I tend to be into straight pairings because that's what I like. /shrug I guess at the end of the day people can think whatever they want.

It comes up a fair bit. I personally prefer a lot of het pairings for various reasons (though I do ship slash/femslash, I just tend to like more het pairings) and I've seen it.

Because obviously shipping white guys can't have anything to do with how fucking hard it's to find anything but white dudes in a lot of big fandoms... even harder if you're actually looking for well-developed characters, not just a placeholder with little more than a name and a face.

It's common enough that I was once...I don't want to say accused, because the person in question was polite about it...but asked if I meant that, when I complained about homophobic comments on a fanvid I made. To be fair, I'd deleted the worst the homophobic comments (3 of them in rapid succession)*, then posted something to the effect that 'going forward all homophobic comments will be removed'.

I felt kind of bad about it when this person posted 'it's a nice video, but I don't see <character a> with a girl, I hope that's not homophobic'...we ended up having a short, pleasant exchange where I clarified that, no, it's OK if you don't agree, just so long as you don't call me a sicko for it.

* I left the one that said '<Tomboyish character> is a girl, JEEZ!' because that was funny as fuck.
