I've seen the complete opposite. If you're a girl who likes m/m, you're looked down on and told you're just a "dumb fetishizing fangirl." If you're a girl who likes m/f, you're good and not doing anything wrong. If you're a girl who likes f/f, you are AWESOME and totally supporting the LGBT* community.

Face it. A lot of girls who ship m/m are young and DO fetishize it. I often get to hear about how HAWT these two characters are, but if you bring up injustices like a real gay man being beaten and killed, they won't give a fuck.

LOL. You couldn't be more off the mark. I'm pretty involved in quite a few fandoms, and I only ship one m/m pairing, and it's canon so I haven't gotten any flack for it. I mainly ship het pairings, and I ship two femslash pairings pretty hard.

And what? Boys don't fetishize lesbians? Because whenever anyone brings that up in fandom, all I hear are crickets. And sure, yeah, you could argue that femslash isn't as prevalent in fandom because fandom is mainly women, but millions of more dollars are being poured into making fake and fetishizing lesbian porn for men than fake and fetishizing gay porn for women. Yet...I still hear crickets.

Honestly, I think a lot of women would care more about a gay man or lesbian being beaten and killed than a man would care. Most of the disgusting homophobes I've met on the internet were men.
