(Anonymous) 2013-03-24 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)Personally I read Voyage of the Dawntreader followed by Last Battle, then the rest in any old order. I still loved them, so not sure it really matters.

I agree with Lewis himself - it doesn't frigging matter which order you read them in. It works perfectly either way.

It doesn't read as a prequel-y book to me, either--it reads as a beginning. So you read them in whatever order and I'll read them in whatever order, I guess.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-25 02:07 am (UTC)(link)'cause if you're old enough to remember this, then you're old enough to grow the fuck up

(Anonymous) 2013-03-25 02:46 am (UTC)(link)But then I love things that are in media res, the more in the deep end you throw me the better. (that's why my favourite Harry Potter fic ever opens with all the teachers fighting a Balrog. Because FUQ U THAT'S WHYYYYY)
I cringe at the numbers on the spines of Redwall books, though. Those do have a specific chronological order, and I can understand reading Redwall first (it's style is quite different from all the ones after it) it's just a mess to otherwise read them in publishing order. Mossflower first or go home.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-25 03:42 am (UTC)(link)Anyways, I read Wardrobe first but that's because that was the first one I was introduced to in grade school. I don't really have a preference either way as to what order they should be read and I believe it should be a personal choice, but that one was certainly my favorite out of the entire series.

In that order.
I presume she did it in that order because she thought the details in MN were spoilery for LW.
I later read the books for myself, pretty much in the MN, LW, HB, PC, DT, SC, LB order, but I do think the way my teacher read them, leaving MN until after LW had it's effect on me.
