Meh. I'm over new Who fandom (Classic I still participate a little bit), but I'll watch. I never want to see the weeping angels ever again. I'm a little looking forward to Ice Warriors! What can I say, I like me some Classic baddies. My absolute favorite part of "Closing Time" was that there were freaking cybermats in it.

But I don't want Moffat getting his mitts anywhere the Rani.

Agreed. I feel the same way about The Silence, for that matter. I feel like I'm the only person who can't stand them.

The Silence still have some mystery for me, and for that reason I don't want any more of them. Come up more more original aliens, writers. And a straight historical would be nice too.

I'd LOVE a straight historical. I once wrote a fanfic that I consciously tried to write in the form of a monster-less straight historical episode. It was about Ten and Donna going back to hook up with Emmeline Pankhurst to get back his laser spanner and got involved in the women's rights movement, and there was this subplot where Donna didn't know anything about Pankhurst or the women's rights movement because she used to be so shallow and narrow-minded and uninterested in anything worthwhile, and she was embarrassed and self-conscious about this, so she kept pretending that she knew exactly what the Doctor was talking about while he was squeeing while secretly trying to sneak around and figure out what the situation was like on her own without him knowing.

Never finished it though. I'm crap at plots. And this was a pointless comment but it just reminded me.

The Silence is one of my biggest disappointments. A monster that awesome and that's how their potential is used? Random crap that has nothing to do with their abilities? ACK! And they didn't even get a "Blink"-style grace period of awesome. They were kind of ruined in their first outing. The way the Doctor dealt with them left a bad taste in my mouth and made them look like chumps.

On the other hand, I will always treasure them because of this awesome macro...
