Huh, I'm not sure if mine is different from the Windows 7 norm... although I did change which icons were always visible. And then added the language bar since I used to type in Chinese a lot. I kinda wanna say what I did or help, but I'm not really sure...

Right click your taskbar -> Properties

In the newly opened Taskbar and Start Menu Properties, under the "Taskbar" tab, look for "Use small icons" in the "Taskbar appearance" section. It should be the third box from top. Check it and click OK/Apply.

I envy you. Mine is an overcompensating mess, but yours is something I could print out to put on my ceiling to stare up at in bed while I ponder my existence in the house...

Grimorium Verum? That looks like a book I should read! Google Drive? I must also envy your assumed patience with that as I have none for it.

I'm sorry. It's just that your desktop has a very calming effect!

Don't apologize, I'm flattered! I have to keep everything sparse because keeping everything tidy helps with my various mental oddities, plus I have a hard time finding everything otherwise. Whenever I use another computer that has a lot of rows of icons, I get frustrated because it takes so long for me to scan them and figure out what's what or where.

Ah, the Grimorium Verum... I've only glanced through it so far, but I'm excited for when I finally read it. I wish I could remember where I got this digital copy, though, so I could send it your way.

And I haven't really noticed Google Drive being particularly slow, but I've also been very lucky with my internet connections, and I've not used anything else to compare it to.
