Said art thief was the subject of a blog on tumblr, and the blog just pointed out all the times where she stole art, and made a list of all the instances of her plagiarizing other people's work. There was a lot of them. She would steal on nearly every page:

The art thief got really butthurt about the blog, and made several posts on her website begging the blogger to stop blogging about her plagiarism because it was "bullying her" and "harming her personal life". (Which it wasn't, because TBH, if someone catches you in a lie, it your fault for lying in the first place.)

Eventually the blog owner agreed to stop posting about the thief, under the conditions that the thief would go back and credit everything they stole, and apologize to the artists they stole from.

It's seriously not a huge wanky deal that everyone makes it out to be. It was a pretty simple dealio.
-Neneko plagiarized a lot of people.
-Someone made a blog pointing out all the times Neneko plagiarized.
-Eventually Neneko finally caved and agreed to stop plagiarizing.
-Every one lives wanky ever after except the butthurt Neneko fan (who is probably Neneko) who keeps whiteknighting Neneko on FFA.

Hmmm... I thought it was extremely common practice for manga artists to trace photos for buildings and shit like that? Why is this a shock to anyone?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-30 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a difference between using modeling programs like sketch up (which TONS of comic artists use, not just manga-style artists), which are made for artists to use; and doing what Neneko did which was add in whatever images she wanted to, even if the image wasn't a stock image she could use.

It's okay to use stock images, 3D programs, and sources that are made for artists to reference. Everyone does that.

It's not okay to use whatever pictures you want without respect for the original artist.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-30 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
of course you shouldn't use photographs and things that you don't have the rights to, but don't think that stock images/self-taken photographs aren't widely used to great effect and without causing offense in the real comics/manga world.

In manga, they have loads and loads of 'trace' books where an artist can use stock images for backgrounds, objects and whatnot. It's a pretty common practice and considering that comics in Japan come out at a faster pace than the ones here in the US, it's pretty smart.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-30 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Once again though, Neneko didn't use stock images like that. There's a difference. IMO, I agree with OP. Bitch deserved that blog about her, the only thing about that whole ordeal that makes me feel sad is that the blog shut down. And I say this as a former fan of Neneko's too. That's what she deserves for stealing.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-30 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I was just explaining (poorly and halfway) that there's tracing for comics that acceptable, then there's neneko who flat out stole for half of that 'comic'.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-30 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
This, though it's considered bad to trace from other mangakas and from sources not intended to be used for tracing.

I like how that vivienne person went on for paragraphs of text walls on how much she totally didn't care about the neneko person.

WALLS OF TEXT ABOUT HOW MUCH SHE DOESN'T CARE

(Anonymous) 2013-03-30 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
it's neneko whiteknight anon. god, I wish you would take FFA's hints and quit it.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-31 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
I gotta say, paragraphs and paragraphs of text are not a good argument for how much you don't care.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-31 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
I doubt Vivien doesn't care, she just looooooves to look at herself talk.

She's basically the Kankri Vantas of kuroshitsuji bnfs.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-31 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
That's not a BNF. BNFs have followers. Black Butler may not be ready for the cover of Sanity Fair, but it's better than that.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-31 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Who? I don't see anybody named vivienne.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-31 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
The owner of the Obsessia hateblog is named Vivien Merveilles. You can see her comments on Neneko's posts about her. TBH, she never shuts up about anything, and is infamous for long-winded ranting and writing in the fandom. I'd say her lengthy comments are less about how much cares about Neneko, and more about how she doesn't know when to shut the fuck up.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-31 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
go fap to your black butler fan comic.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-31 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, is it whiteknight o' clock in here?
Too bad both Vivien and Neneko are complete asshats, though I'd say Vivien is the bigger bitch of the two of them, and Neneko is just flat-out dumb. But the fact that Vivien called out an art thief doesn't make the way she did it any less bitchy.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-31 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
da but what's the 'proper' way to expose and stop thieves?

if lady is a thief, she doesn't 'deserve' to be shut down 'nicely'

(Anonymous) 2013-03-31 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
How about, you notify the artists who've been stolen from, who actually own any copyrights in question, and let them decide how to deal with it? Plagiarism is extremely uncool, but this level of obsession from a self-selected white knight is a little disturbing.
