"Americans are such prudes"

Really? REALLY? I get so tired of "American" stereotypes. The USA is as large as entire continents. There is no one trait that is shared by all Americans, just like there is no one trait that is shared by all Europeans. Also, porny art of underage characters is illegal in some countries, which means that even having it present on your dash could result in legal action, depending on who wants to prosecute.

Basically what I'm saying is shut the hell up and stop being an asshole.

Regionally, cultural differences in the USA can be massive. Going from Southern Alabama to New York City is really like being in a different country.

But it doesn't compare to say the difference between say a person in France and Bosnia. Not even close. And there's a reason the only people you'll ever see making this argument are american.

Idk, maybe it's because unlike some other large countries, we have clearly defined separate states within the country. And people from different states discriminate against each other just like we were from different countries. I've had people from the northern US ask me if we still have slaves in Alabama, for instance. Also, each state can have a completely different set of laws. So for us, it might not actually BE like different countries, but it sure as hell FEELS like it. So...I'm sorry, I guess??

Do you think the difference between Alabama and Alaska is as great as the difference between Alabama and Spain though??

Just like regional differences in a European country can be. Smaller doesn't mean less diverse.

And this is coming from a European. America is a very, VERY multicultural country. A lot of us don't realize it until we actually go there and spend a good amount of time there how varied it really is.
You are forgetting that America is a land of immigrants and has its own rich history. Don't be ignorant.

Well the US is as large as Australia, and like Australia is filled with horrible poisonous critters. I believe Americans call them Republicans.

NO, I am not a Republican. Yes, I've known some awesome people who are.

Yeah, it's true. Not all are haters. You'll find some very decent ones (politicians) on the local and state level.

But as far as grabbing national seats (Congress) or a presidential nomination, well, even if you *were* a sane Republican politician, nowadays you gotta crazy up a few levels.

Even the Repub. Party has admitted they've become the crazy party, and are trying to change by "presenting their message" better.

Apropos of nothing, within the last week, a Republican (national) senator from Alaska refers to Hispanics as "wetbacks." And North Dakota restricts abortions to six weeks.

Please don't take such an obvious bait. It's embarrassing to us all.

Sorry, Sometimes I just can't help but feed the trolls. It's why I'm not allowed in wildlife parks anymore.

As someone who spent a lot of time traveling in North America and Europe (and lives in neither) I'll just say this-

There is a large difference between people of different area of the US, bigger than many people who're only familiar with America through media may not fully realize. Accents differ, looks differ, food differ, even cultures-

but

the difference in Europe is still more prominent. It's not just the languages, either, though I think it's a big factor. Consider their histories. The united states have a pretty solid union for, at least, the last 100 years (I think even longer, but I'm not as big on American history). Europe just united it's East and West measly 25 years ago. And the language barrier? Like I said, it's a huge factor. A Russian and a Pole who both speak only their country's respectable main tongue may be able to somehow understand each other, but a Turk and a Swede? A French and a Croatian? While, I'm pretty sure that a man from Florida and a guy from Washington would be able to communicate just fine.

The US is big. There's a big difference between people from one end to the other there. But comparing it to Europe? Nope, nope, nope...
