If they used livejournal for years, they most likely tagged. So why the fuck is it suddenly SO HARD and such a ~policing act~ to tag over there? B/

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 04:03 am (UTC)(link)I'm of two minds. If they don't tag the post with anything, the only way someone will see it is if they're browsing that particular user's feed, and I can see the argument that anyone who's going to seek out and read your personal posts accepts that you don't tag or warn, and takes their chances. It's your right, just as it's their right to unfollow you over it.
If you exert the effort to tag it with the fandom/pairing, so it's going out there publicly, but can't be arsed to add warning tags? That's shitty.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)"oh I want to follow these people, they're my friends"
"people who refuse to tag when asked are obnoxious assholes"
"people will try to destroy you if you just unfollow them"
"people who say 'it's my blog unfollow if you don't like it' are crazy bitches"
"people I generally get along with"
Either the arguments about general and personal tags are getting really mixed up, or I don't understand people at alll :\

WHY IS TAGGING SO FUCKING HARD? What, should ALL blogs not have followers anymore? I mean, tagging at least HELPS with organization on their own blog, it's something we all learned from being HERE and on LJ for so damn many years. Why is tumblr so different? Why is it considered a BAD THING to ask a fellow blogger to tag shit? What if you don't want to unfollow becaue you like their stuff? Because wank may end up following you BECAUSE you unfollowed that person? Some people are vengeful little shitstains who WOULD sic their adoring followers after what the perceive to be a dissenter.
Ultimately, again: WHY IS IT SO FUCKING HARD AND A BAD THING TO TAG THINGS?!

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 04:15 am (UTC)(link)There seems to be a fundamental philosophical clash over whether the tracked tags should be a safe, civilized place just like one's personal dashboard, or a Wild West environment where anything goes. I doubt it's going to be resolved anytime soon.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 05:09 am (UTC)(link)my tumblr is just a way to let people know when i like their art and to reblog some stuff as a personal archive. that's it. i don't care about you following me. and please, care to give me some stats on apparently this huge problem of unfollowing wank? cause I've never seen it. but what I have seen are way too many people playing the martyr and expecting everybody else to be responsible for their fun.

Tag your fucking shit, or shut the fuck up.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 01:52 am (UTC)(link)For the way some people use it, tumblr is about as personal as standing on your apartment balcony and screaming out your kinks to the people below. Technically, you're still in your house, but that doesn't actually matter.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)I appreciate your problem (I really do!) but there is nothing you can do about it. You can't have a sense of community or commonly agreed-upon standards on a completely decentralized site. Sorry :(

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 02:53 am (UTC)(link)And unfollowing isn't going to help when I don't follow the person in the first place, it's not hard to come across untagged loli/shota porn or other NSFW stuff when you're just browsing fandom and character tags.
Also, as an aside, there are a ton of people on Tumblr who act like somebody shaved an insult onto their cat whenever somebody unfollows them.
