why why why why don't you just unfollow these people. I don't understand this at all. Most tumblrs are personal blogs- if they don't care whether or not you follow them, why do you care so much?

Say it's a friend and you share fandoms. Or it's an artist that you like who does other things BESIDES the thing you hate? Why risk losing followers who like their other stuff, but not that one thing, with not tagging? Or why should you deprive yourself of good art and such all because of one thing? In the end, it hurts both the blogger and the follower. Maybe not in the grand scheme of things, but still.

WHY IS TAGGING SO FUCKING HARD? What, should ALL blogs not have followers anymore? I mean, tagging at least HELPS with organization on their own blog, it's something we all learned from being HERE and on LJ for so damn many years. Why is tumblr so different? Why is it considered a BAD THING to ask a fellow blogger to tag shit? What if you don't want to unfollow becaue you like their stuff? Because wank may end up following you BECAUSE you unfollowed that person? Some people are vengeful little shitstains who WOULD sic their adoring followers after what the perceive to be a dissenter.

Ultimately, again: WHY IS IT SO FUCKING HARD AND A BAD THING TO TAG THINGS?!

And then on the other hand you can get people just as upset by tagging stuff they'd rather you didn't. I get why people want warnings and/or dislike seeing hate, but I also get why people sometimes throw up their hands and say "You know what? My blog, my business how I run it. Like it or lump it."

There seems to be a fundamental philosophical clash over whether the tracked tags should be a safe, civilized place just like one's personal dashboard, or a Wild West environment where anything goes. I doubt it's going to be resolved anytime soon.

because i don't give a shit and you can't make me give a shit. some people don't care about having followers. most of the time it doesn't hurt the blogger at all because amazingly their identity is not fuckin wrapped up in however many people they have following them on one particular website.

my tumblr is just a way to let people know when i like their art and to reblog some stuff as a personal archive. that's it. i don't care about you following me. and please, care to give me some stats on apparently this huge problem of unfollowing wank? cause I've never seen it. but what I have seen are way too many people playing the martyr and expecting everybody else to be responsible for their fun.

Apparently you didn't read any of the OTHER comments about surfing certain tags or Tumblr Savior only catching certain tags, you bitch.

Tag your fucking shit, or shut the fuck up.

Um, I don't follow any personal blogs and I've run into shota just in general tags. Like, people will tag a shota picture with the fandom/character it's for so it shows up for the general public, but they won't tag it with anything that allows the general public to filter it with Tumblr Savior or whatever, like "shota" or "underage" or whatever.

For the way some people use it, tumblr is about as personal as standing on your apartment balcony and screaming out your kinks to the people below. Technically, you're still in your house, but that doesn't actually matter.

Can I memorise this quote?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't even realise you could use tumblr savior in general tags, since I avoid them for the most part. The problem I am referring to is when people you follow reblog without adding tags.

I appreciate your problem (I really do!) but there is nothing you can do about it. You can't have a sense of community or commonly agreed-upon standards on a completely decentralized site. Sorry :(

I'm not going to unfollow friends that I generally get along with aside from a single fandom that they love but I can't stand unless it's literally the only thing they ever post, which it isn't.
And unfollowing isn't going to help when I don't follow the person in the first place, it's not hard to come across untagged loli/shota porn or other NSFW stuff when you're just browsing fandom and character tags.

Also, as an aside, there are a ton of people on Tumblr who act like somebody shaved an insult onto their cat whenever somebody unfollows them.

In my experience fandom and character tags are complete shitholes even with tagging- it's a completely different problem from not tagging at all.
