Exactly. It's only proper to blame the real queerbaiters in this case. I'm including what's his face, the actor, in this assessment.

I kinda feel bad for 'what's his face', because the one time he admitted all they were ever gonna do was play 'lip service' to it, he was ~corrected~ by the fans and felt the need to tweet that he was wrong to use that term. Plus, I don't really blame him for playing it up. He's probably just trying to keep a steady paycheck, and he figured out pretty quickly how to tap into the fannish mind. I'd play up the gay too, if the amount I worked was influenced by it. Ain't awesome, but we all gotta pay our bills.

The writers et al on Twitter, they piss me off because there's no reason for them to respond to the Destiel bullshit at all. These are clearly teenagers who are tweeting them with shit like 'Destiel is wonderful gay representation and it should be canon OMG', and they're responding with 'LOL, WE LOVE DESTIEL STAY TUNED', when they know damn well it's not gonna happen.

Nope, I don't excuse the actor at all. Six in one hand, half a doz. in the other and all that jazz.

Do you also find fault with the leads when they play up the gay stuff for the fans, or is it just Misha?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
He's the only one I've heard about (not in the fandom). But sure, whatever.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't follow this wank but didn't Misha use the term incorrectly? As in... he wasn't aware what the term meant until someone told him later.

Yeah, I have no idea what the wank was but I read the actual account of what happened and queerbaiting it was not. The originator of this thread didn't seem very well informed so I was trying not to get involved...
