I do. I can hardly stand to re-watch this episode ): a lot of innocent people get fucked over in Supernatural, but none makes me as sad as Jack.

Oh man I definitely remember this episode, I have trouble even rewatching it because it's one of the more disturbing ones.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-07 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It didn't affect me as much as you, but I definitely remember him. He really got screwed over. Poor guy...

And while we're talking about people who got screwed over and that nobody remembers - I occasionally wonder what happened to the wolf guy from "Bedtime Stories". Was he arrested for those killings, did he end up in a locked ward with no idea how this happened? Also everybody ever who was possessed and survived - talk about legal problems...

Oh man, the possessions thing has always bothered me. I remember watching Jus in Belo and thinking, really? All these people are just going to walk away from a huge mass possession with no mention of it? I hope the police made up a pretty convincing story off screen.

da

I like to think that they would have talked and that SPN!verse has this sub-mainstream society of people in the know. There's not enough stories (and what there are aren't well documented) so that they seem actually convincing, but the evidence is growing and eventually the truth will come out. I'm a bit amazed that it wasn't already out with Godstiel, but that's an aspect the show as always been weirdly shy about addressing.

Of course, Victor and crew were silenced by other means. :(

And poor Meg Masters. And these days, it's not 'No, let's do an exorcism so the person being possessed survives!', it's 'stab and move on'.

Oh, so on a similar note, how about Lisa, who got brainwiped by Castiel to forget all about Dean, but will return home to find her dead post-Dean boyfriend (about whom she presumably now remembers nothing) in her living room. Talk about legal entanglements you can't untangle.

That's presuming Cas didn't magically clean up the evidence, but I really REALLY loathed the way they wrote her out of the storyline.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
but if she only forgot about Dean, there's no reason she would have forgotten about her current boyfriend.

The logic of that whole storyline was so flawed. Dean has Cas take her and Ben's memories to keep them out of danger... only, how does that work? They don't remember anything, yeah, but anyone after Dean could still use them for leverage against him, either because they already know Lisa and Ben exist, or because they glean the information from Dean's memories. All he's done is taken their knowledge of the supernatural and what they've learned about protecting themselves from it.

(Also, what about their neighbors? Dean lived there for a year. You have to think someone is going to bring him up at some point.)

You're not alone. He's not the person I feel most sorry for, but that's probably because he ties with all the other innocent-but-got-caught-up-in-shit-beyond-their-control characters throughout the series. Things generally don't go well for them, especially if they're one-offs and not human. :/

(Anonymous) 2013-04-07 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't remember him. Does anyone care to remind me?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-07 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
He was the rugarou dude from Metamorphasis in season 2. He started suddenly craving human flesh and was trying to avoid giving into temptation and becoming a monster, but then the other hunter dude working with Sam & Dean ended up threatening his wife and rugarou dude when crazy and killed and ate him, so Sam & Dean had to kill him.

Whoa, that episode had completely slipped my mind, which is not surprising cause my memory sucks. Thanks for replying in such detail, anon!!

I may be misremembering, but didn't Metamorphosis happen in season 4?

I remember him. Him and "Lucy/Dracula"

"'Real' is being born this way. Different. 'Real' is having your dad call you 'monster' -- It's the first time you hear the word ... And then he tries to beat you to death with a shovel."

Yeah, Jack's story sucked. He *so* could have been a 'good monster'. Bah.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-07 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
That episode was simultaneously disturbing and very sad :(

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'm still sad about Pastor Jim. He was featured in ONE opening. My feelings don't care.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Pastor Jim seemed like such an interesting character, though! And I'm sure there were some great stories there, since from the sounds of it Sam and Dean spent some time with him when they were growing up, too. I'm always sad we didn't get to see more of Pastor Jim, Caleb, Annie, or some of the other hunters that have popped up over the years and been killed off in the span of an episode.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
I do. And actually just thought of this episode again when a Rugaru was mentioned in a recent case.

I have the same problem with getting more attached to victims/monsters-of-the-week than the main cast. Jimmy Novak and Lucky are the big ones for me.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
UGH, JIMMY. The Rapture is one of the handful of episodes that make me cry every single time I watch it. Poor Amelia and Claire, too.

I haven't read the thread yet, but I'm thinking that's the one where the guy turned into the... (I always want to say "boogeroo", but that ain't right!) roogerou or something?

If so, I remember him! And yes, it was sad.

If that's not the guy, then apparently I don't remember him and his tragedy was wasted on me.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
This is my most re-watched episode, I think. It just gets me right in there.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I remember feeling terrible for him. It was a sad episode.
