Now I'm curious, I've heard reading fic to actually get off isn't too common? is that right, f!s? I do it, so idk.

That's part of what I was wondering with this secret. How common is it to browse fic with the intention of using it as porn to get off to? Even most of my friends who profess how "hot" slash or whatever is don't seem to actually rub the nub to it (or are too embarrassed to admit it to my perhaps slightly creepy curiosity).

I rub the nub to my own fic porn, but don't bother with anyone else's, usually.

I do both. I'll go looking for fic to get off to, but I'll also read smutfic just to entertain me when I'm bored (and sometimes it ends up being so hot that I then need to get off to it anyway). Weirdly enough I almost never get that hot from my own fic.

Personally, I read PWPs (with my favourite kinks) to get off, but that happens rarely and if the fic hits my kinks I don't really care if I know the fandom well. I'm just interested in how well it is written and whether it turns me on.

But most of the time I read fics to read them (for the plot/emotions/what not) and then I tend to skip over porny bits, because most of the time they are of the paint-by-numbers variety and just make me bored (not to mentioned, add little to the plot).

Naw I think it's pretty common. Maybe different fandoms have different types but my xp has a lot of people talking about getting off to fic.

I do it, but not all pieces. I read strictly PWP to get off, but in anything else, I'll skip the porn.

This is how I treat it as well. If I'm in the mood to get off, I'll go hunt down PWPs for kinks or pairings I like. Sometimes, if I'm after a certain kink, I'll even read for fandoms I don't know (because then there's no such thing as OOC, if I don't know how the characters are supposed to behave).

If I'm reading because I want to read a story, I actually prefer there not to be a bunch of porn thrown into it.
