If you don't like when people don't tag maybe you should just unfollow those people. Work on finding others that post similar content but do tag.

This! I constantly unfollow people whom don't tag enough...

[personal profile] unicornherds 2013-04-09 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yup! Was going to suggest the same thing. I've ended up unfollowing a few people just because they don't tag and post way too much (for me). Nothing wrong with that!

I actually mind the crazy a lot less than the endless reblogging. At least it has personality?

OTOH I've had to unfollow serveral people lately who posted stuff I really, really love. But who kept going on these massive reblogging benders of their other fandoms without tagging. I do not have time to scroll through 200 identical pictures of your random crushes I don't care about, people.

Do people not notice that they lose followers when they do that, or do they just not care?

Also - it is completely pointless to tag your stuff if you then keep changing your tags. I already have thirty-six different iterations of your new ship's name Savioured and I'm still seeing a hundred posts from you because today you've stuck "babieeez" with different numbers of 'e's on the end of the tag every time or something.

Whoops. Got ranty there. Just so fucking frustrating.

Maybe they don't notice? Tumblr doesn't inform you when someone unfollows you, right? (A friend accidentally unfollowed me today then immediately added me back. I got an email about the follow but not the unfollow. And I don't check my number of followers often. Maybe it's the same for them.)

And yea, when people change up their tags or make comments in tags then tagging becomes pretty pointless. That's why most my tags are very simple and predictable and I have no trouble remembering them. But not everyone is down with doing it that way, and some followers don't care either, so...unfollowing them is the best thing to do if it bothers you. It's just tumblr; no one should take it too personally.

You can download scripts where it tells you who unfollowed you.

Ah, that would explain it. I use tumblr on my cell 98% of the time so I'm pretty clueless about scripts.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-09 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh. I hate that. That is as pathetic as constantly calling somebody who broke up with you and wants nothing to do with you anymore.

If somebody unfollows you, just GET OVER IT. Don't get all stalker level and revenge unfollow or harass them. -_-

They unfollowed you for a fucking reason, probably not even personal.

Oh my god, I agree about the 'random crush' thing. This person I follow posts a lot of stuf from the same fandom, but like 3 pages at a time worth of some celebrity I don't even know the name of because they don't tag it -_-

It's frustrating because I still want to follow for the fandoms we share, but they don't tag anything.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-09 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
The main advice people always give is to unfollow if you don't like it. I don't unfollow a person because of one thing they post that annoys me, when I like the rest of the stuff they post. The problem is that most blogs I follow are multi-fandom, so it's hard to keep away from the stuff you don't like while seeing the stuff that you do.

That makes sense and I do understand it (I feel the same, though most the stuff that appears on my dashboard doesn't bother me enough to want to blacklist it (even if I could use tumblr savior), but since your options are: continue following the user and deal with the frustration, ask them to tag their stuff (which would likely just piss them off) or unfollow them... I don't know what else to suggest. :(

I'm not fond of untagged posts either but as long as tumblr is around I imagine they'll exist, so it's just something you might have to put up with.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-09 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. I was once following this really funny person who made these amazingly funny fandom related posts, but then she got into Homestuck and started reblogging more about that without tagging it.

Since she was tumblr famous in our fandom she lost a lot of followers from that, and eventually I unfollowed too. Which sucks because you have to choose if the good is worth putting up with the bad, and you can't make anybody tag their stuff.

This. I've seriously unfollowed some folks for not tagging movies that just came out, even if I've already seen them personally. It's just so inconsiderate.
