I feel you, this is me. I don't even follow that many fandom blogs and stuff manages to be on my dash, it's annoying. And yes, tumblr savior is underused because of people not tagging correctly.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I try to defend tumblr to my friend who hates it with a passion, but sometimes its really hard, Calm Down Crazy is basically the only way to describe tumblr most of the time.

If you don't like when people don't tag maybe you should just unfollow those people. Work on finding others that post similar content but do tag.

This! I constantly unfollow people whom don't tag enough...

[personal profile] unicornherds 2013-04-09 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yup! Was going to suggest the same thing. I've ended up unfollowing a few people just because they don't tag and post way too much (for me). Nothing wrong with that!

I actually mind the crazy a lot less than the endless reblogging. At least it has personality?

OTOH I've had to unfollow serveral people lately who posted stuff I really, really love. But who kept going on these massive reblogging benders of their other fandoms without tagging. I do not have time to scroll through 200 identical pictures of your random crushes I don't care about, people.

Do people not notice that they lose followers when they do that, or do they just not care?

Also - it is completely pointless to tag your stuff if you then keep changing your tags. I already have thirty-six different iterations of your new ship's name Savioured and I'm still seeing a hundred posts from you because today you've stuck "babieeez" with different numbers of 'e's on the end of the tag every time or something.

Whoops. Got ranty there. Just so fucking frustrating.

The main advice people always give is to unfollow if you don't like it. I don't unfollow a person because of one thing they post that annoys me, when I like the rest of the stuff they post. The problem is that most blogs I follow are multi-fandom, so it's hard to keep away from the stuff you don't like while seeing the stuff that you do.

This. I've seriously unfollowed some folks for not tagging movies that just came out, even if I've already seen them personally. It's just so inconsiderate.

I thought that ts would pick any word in the post including tags to block out.

It does give me a kick reading a "___ made a post containing: 'blah', 'blahhhh', and 'bl..." blurb though. Especially when it has the ellipsis meaning ts caught a whole bunch of everything in it haha.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-09 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I think depends on whether you're using the Greasemonkey version or the browser extension version. The browser extensions will block a post if a blacklisted thing comes up anywhere in the post, but the Greasemonkey version will only block it if it's in the tags.
I've only used the Firefox add-on version, so I can't confirm this, but it's what I've heard from a friend who's used both.

Yeah... it works for tags, text and usernames, but not picture posts with no tags or text.

OH MY GOD I AGREE. About the tagging thing, that is. I have little patience for people who whine that [insert fandom here] is TOTALLY RUINING TUMBLR OMG because Tumblr Savior exists; just use it to block the shit you don't like. God knows I do. However, if people don't tag... \D8/

(Anonymous) 2013-04-09 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
motherfucking homestucks.

and motherfucking gleeks.

tag your god damned shit.

I swear to GOD if I have to see one more post about Klaine or whatever that shit is for Homestuck I am going to rip my face off.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-09 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Homestuck is the very first thing I ever tumblr savior'ed once I discovered the add-on existed. My tumblr experience vastly improved.

Ugh, this. I ended up blacklisting a lot of things I didn't really care about but that Tumblr made me HATE. And then there was Loki: I was actually interested in the character as portrayed in Thor and The Avengers, but now I blacklisted anything that may have to do with him and his actor because I was SO fed up with endless posts about a screenshot basically going "LOOK HOW HE BLINKED HERE AND SCRATCHED HIS BUTT THERE THE ACTOR IS SUCH A GENIUS AND THAT TOTALLY SHOWS WHAT A TORTURED SOUL THE CHARACTER IS AND *insert endless post of incoherent babbling*".

And I wish people knew how to tag their shit, too.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-09 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
xD
I know what you mean. The Loki obsession is just ridiculous.

I have never been more annoyed with tumblr than on April 1st when people started the "mishapocalypse" and then failed to tag any of it.

I feel you there OP. My blacklist is so long. And yeah, there's stuff that I tolerated but grew to despise because of Tumblr crazies. Ugh.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-09 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
I feel like I am the only person in the world that can't get tumblr savior to work.

Actually I guess the real question is does it work in tracked tags? Because I have a tag a track that gets stuff from some fandom put into it I don't care about.

Yeah it sucks when people don't fucking tag. What's even more gross is that I've had somebody request for people to tag their stuff when they don't tag at all. It's pretty hypocritical. I wish I could unfollow some people but they post a lot of stuff I like, untagged.

Also I just checked and my blacklist is currently around 125 kewwords.

To be honest, it's just too much hard work to shovel through the crap to get to the few, tiny nuggets of gold (even with Tumblr Savior), so I've given up.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-09 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
I understand that feeling. I feel that way about Homestuck which keeps consuming my dashboard since everyone I follow that gets into it feels the need to spam it constantly.

Sherlock, Supernatural, and Dr. Who also get spammed a lot but I don't mind them as much because they are nice to look at but everything Homestuck posts are just a series of inside jokes and writing that doesn't make sense to an outsider.

I've never even seen Supernatural before and I'm not really inclined to, but I can still laugh at the gif sets and jokes. Homestuck just doesn't make sense and it sucks that it's not always tagged.

Maybe I'm just meticulous but I tag EVERYTHING so that I can find it again on my blog easily, it only takes a second. It's helpful to everyone.

Not related to fandom, but I used to follow this guy on Tumblr and he kept pulling the whiniest shit mixed with super annoying fandom stuff and he never tagged. I had to unfollow him which was a shame.
