I probably wouldn't see a movie that wasn't about white dudes saving the day, sorry. I'm attracted to a lot of the white dudes who end up in these starring roles. I like "save the day against impossible odds! (but not really)" stories. It's a pretty basic formula, and movie goers want and expect it.

It's not that your stories aren't interesting. It's just that they may not sell.

Wow. So you only go to movies so you can put your hand down your pants?

How...dull.

And unhygienic. I don't think the theatre owners really appreciate that, either.

But why should "save the day aginst impossible odds" stories require the protagonist to be of a certain gender or race or age?

And the "it won't sell" argument just doesn't cut it for me. Publishers and producers assume variety won't sell, so they don't make much of it, so - surprise! - it doesn't sell.

Why is it when a film with a "black/female/insert-minority-protagonist-here" flops, it means EVERY film with that type of protagonist is doomed to fail, so we should stop making them.

People ayrt is attracted to people of a certain gender, race, and age, and s/he only likes stories that involve people s/he's attracted to.

In other words, you're talking to an extremely shallow person who isn't really going to care about any of your points.

*sigh*

I know. I'm too much of an optimist.

What if we had the sexy white dude be the love interest/damsel-in-distress that the non-white female protagonist had to rescue in the course of saving the day?

I would watch this.
