excuse me, I watched it for the PLOT, not the unnecessary bl fanservice for shallow fangirls.

lol someone doesn't know what bl or fanservice mean

(Anonymous) 2013-04-22 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. Just because you watched it for the plot doesn't mean you have to be willfully ignorant to the fact that the series is BL.

I watch BBC Merlin because it's entertaining, but I don't ship anyone (and even if I did it certainly wouldn't be Guinevere/Arthur). That still doesn't mean I can stick my fingers into my ears and say, "Oh, no, Guinevere/Arthur aren't a couple in the series". That's just stupid.

It also doesn't work that way.

BUT IT ISN'T BL THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT

why is everyone saying this is BL

it's stacked in KIDS' LITERATURE

/late to the party

That's like saying you don't watch action movies for the action, and what's more, any action is just fanservice for shallow action fans.

The genre of the show is sci-fi/BL. That's not fanservice, that's actually sticking to their genre.

I watched it for both. What now?

I don't actually think their personal relationship was unnecessary. If it weren't for it it'd be a pretty run-of-the-mill dystopian revolution story. With the romance it's a romance sci-fi, yay!

Holy shit, nothing annoys me more than people (a.k.a. you at the moment) saying that No.6 is BL or BL fanservice. Have you even read the novels?

The novels where those two characters spend whole paragraphs waxing poetic about each other's appearances?

Yes, but that still doesn't make it BL. It is not a typical BL novel. The main focus isn't to get the two characters to fuck eventually, or to say "oh look, one of them didn't think he was gay, but the other character made him see the light!" or any of the cliché stuff that usually happens in BL. Plus, the main focus is not on the relationship, but on the story, still.

It's a sci-fi novel where two people happen to meet and fall in love and those two people happen to be guys. That is all.

That would make the budding romance in it a theme, but not a genre and most definitely not BL.
