I figure that's what most people prefer, so it's usually what I use when writing sex scenes. Maybe I just don't like it because it's basically identical to the Swedish word kock (which means "chef").

I think I might like it because it is such a vulgar word? And while dick is okay, it does remind of like...preteen boys saying "Dick" and giggling.

Yup. Pretty much every other word for that body part is either stupid or overly clinical.

I like cock, but this same problem is why I have a hard time writing femslash/het sex. I just can't stand any of the words for the female bits. :(

I tend to go with "erection" and "shaft," or just say things like, "she took him into her mouth" and avoid using a euphemism at all when I can. I'll sometimes use "cock," but I don't' really prefer it; it's not sexy to me.
