ahhh it's the return of the language police

i think there was something like this a while back, and i'll say the same thing that i said before: for a lot of people, the internet is for fun???? like if people don't capitalize or use proper punctuation in their fun fandom zones or whatever then that's their call. it's not like they're automatically being inconsiderate by doing so and it's not really anyone's job to ensure that everyone approves of their use of english. plus, language has been morphed like crazy online (and in any subculture, if you stick around long enough/pay attention) and it's kind of fucking beautiful. welcome to the internet.

OTOH, you are not the language police in the other direction.

We have to accept it, not to do so is anal, it's beautiful (no, actually,it's horribly ugly), we should all shut up because we are wrong and are not allowed even to let it bother us - note the OP says nothing about it not being the person's "call".

Got it, Ms Edgy and Cool.

I refuse.

ironically, in a discussion about language, i'm having a hard time figuring out what you mean and am not sure how much of this comment is attempted sarcasm

but yeah for sure, refuse all you like. it's your call (and anyone else's call) to use words however just as it's your call if you want to be annoyed by how other people use language and if you choose to not engage with them. that said, expecting someone to change their ways to suit your needs (which is what the OP seems to be implying) is kind of unrealistic and a tad entitled.

You don't have to accept it. You can exercise your self-control to unfollow or unsub from that person. But wanking about how this way is pure and proper while that way is so terrible marks you as:

1. linguistically ignorant and
2. a prat.
