Re: Bizarrely Popular fandoms/pairings?
(Anonymous) 2013-04-24 02:36 am (UTC)(link)I was surprised to discover that the most popular pairing was Enjolras/Grantaire.
idk i just find it really baffling. maybe it's because they're both played by cute young actors in the film???
Re: Bizarrely Popular fandoms/pairings?
(Anonymous) 2013-04-24 02:56 am (UTC)(link)Well actually, probably 90% of it. The other 10% is made up of 1) George Blagden shipping it; 2) Grantaire being obsessed with Enjorlas in canon to the point that the ship sails itself.
Re: Bizarrely Popular fandoms/pairings?
Same shit happens in my fandom. The entire series is basically about the relationship between two dudes, one in his thirties and one in his fifties, with slash material to the max if one is looking for it, but nobody wants grandpa so the most popular ship is the thirty something dude with some other dude shares all of like three lines with.

Fangirls gon' shallow. I really don't blame 18-year-olds for not wanting to write fic about someone definitely old enough to be their father and possibly their grandfather, though. Things look different when you're my age, but when I was a teenager 40- and 50- something year old men might as well have been corpses for all the sex appeal they held for me. I understand the phenomenon completely (as much as it irks my bff, a queer dude who likes older guys and wonders where all the Price fic/art is at).
